I’ve been in Alaska for the last 2 weeks. Will be coming home Monday. We have seen a lot of Tigers as well. Ran into a young guy on the train from Talkeetna to Anchorage that lives about 15 minutes from us in Easley. Was on the spit in Homer a couple of days ago wearing my Esso Club hat and a couple saw it and started talking to us. They have a house in Clemson and live on Johns Island about a mile from where I grew up. Took my wife to the local winery and one of the young ladies behind the tasting bar walked up and said “It’s been a long time since I was in the Esso Club”. Turns out she grew up in Charlotte and her parents moved to Easley when she was in high school and her husband went to Clemson. The brand is widely recognized.
And btw, Alaska is AWESOME! My cousin lives in Homer and we have been up here twice and also on an Alaskan cruise several years ago. Love it up here. Pics attached.

And you drive around and see huge moose standing on the side of the road like we see deer at home. Except they don’t run away from the car.

in the summer time and the really short days and long nights in the winter time? If you lived up there, that would take some getting used to. Seems like the summers would be hard to get enough sleep and the winters would maybe be a little depressing and would involve a lot of lighting and heat and large utility bills.

Yes. We were in Denali last week for the summer solstice. Sunset was at 12:03 AM and sunrise at 3:39 AM but it never really got dark. I took the attached pic at midnight. No flash or special effects. Just cell phone pic. My cousin has lived here in Homer on the coast for 10 years and she has adjusted well. Black out shades are a must in summer. She has a cabin she rents on vrbo if anyone is interested in information t-male me and I’ll send the link. World class salmon and halibut fishing here.

Alaska is awesome. We saw that same glacier (and a few others). We also did a flightseeing tour out of Talkeetna and landed on the Ruth glacier at the base of Denali- that was awesome.

Obviously pretty close to home here but in Asheville, where I now live, I see more Clemson stuff than anything else including the tobacco road schools.

I used to watch "Gold Rush" on Friday nights and there was a guy on there who was always wearing a Clemson sweatshirt or hat. It was pretty cool to see.
