Why isn't he playing yet? I thought he would come in and give us immediate help.

consensus 4 star. He will be a force before he's done at Clemson! Just takes some a little longer to acclimated than others.

Defensive line is the toughest position to develop outside of OL. Ideally, you'd like to redshirt him, but we don't have the depth to do so.

How so?
He's only playing because we don't have any other options.
I think he'll be a great one, but I don't know how can say that when he's getting less than 20 snaps a game at a very thin position.

I never said Reader isn't play well (of course, you could make the argument that he's not -- no one on the defense is, consistently anyway). Shatley moved to OL in spring ball...before Reader even got on campus. Keep in mind that we didn't even know whether he was going to be OL or DL until he got here, so that point is moot.
I'm not going to argue. It's a known fact in college football that you want to redshirt your linemen if you can, seeing as how the technique is hardest to teach --- not to mention the strength aspect.
Check Alabama and LSU depth chart and see how many true freshman are in the rotation on the DL. Check FSU and tell me how many true freshman are playing in the middle (they are playing some young guys at end). I can save you time --- there are none.
My point is that Tyler moved to the OL because we were thin there, and because he frankly wasn't that good on the DL. Reader is playing because there are really only three other guys that can play --- Jarret, Williams and Watson.

Agreed. Adams can make a big impact. I'm just a big believer in redshirting the big guys to get them an extra year in the weight room and learning how to use their hands.
