Watched the Auburn/Clemson game.......

Lawd, you Tigers were lucky to win that one. If AU had a QB to compliment their running game I dare say you wouldn't have. Your entire offense was Boyd, Nuke, Ellington and Ford. All gone now sans Boyd. TB played his rear off seeing how whenever he wasn't throwing out of a 3-step drop he was running for his life. The Oline seemed to be very inconsistent in pass protection. Grantham's defense will surely focus on pressuring Tajh into mistakes...he's the heartbeat of that offense more especially now that AE has moved on. The jury is still out as to who Cu has that can hit the edge like Andre so the monkey is on Boyd's back in this season opener.
Auburn's DL practically lived in Clemson's backfield the entire game. Morris might better have Stoudt ready cause we'll be teeing off on Boyd.....we know he's going to have to run, after all he was your 2nd leading rusher in 2012. He'll be under amazing pressure to carry his team in this 1st game. How you Tigers think Gurshall won't be successful is beyond me. Mini-backs Mason and McCalabb gave your "D" fits....just imagine UGA in two TE sets pounding the leather with 230 lb Gurley and 215 lb Marshall led by our 262 lb fullback led by our Oline with 100+ starts. Oh yes, we are going to run it. Unlike AU and LSU Georgia will have a QB capable of completing more than 11 (Frazier) and 14 (Mettenberger)passes in a game. Oh yes, we are going to throw it.
Bottomline, while CU struggled to secure the win the Dawgs ran AU out of the stadium......their stadium mind you.
50 days out!

you will be less impressed with the dawgs.
Auburn had quit by the time the doggies rolled onto the plains, they had hopes for a good season when we played them.

So, Au didn't feel like playing against UGA, yet the LSU wasn't all there in the Peach Bowl reasoning gets poo-poo'ed by T-Net?
Can I get the playbook on when the "Didn't want to be there" excuse is valid?

Hop on the clue bus.
Did I say Auburn didn't want to be there? No. I said Auburn's season was in shambles by the time UGa rolled into town. They had no confidence or reason for hope.
LSU was ranked #8 in the country and had a great season. They were confident they would beat a lowly ACC team.
See the difference?

Georgia's leading rusher in that game has transferred.

Gurley and Marshall kept pounding the line to little effect, and were held scoreless.
Georgia "didn't move it very far when they were out there," Spurrier said with a grin.

Jul 12, 2013, 6:38 PM

way of thinking in the 90's as a way to prove they were better than UF even though they couldn't beat them on the field...Example...UF beats UGa(shocker) and loses to UT. UT beats UF and loses to UGa...UGa loses to UF(shocker right?)and beats UT...UGa fans claim they are the better than UF because they beat a team that beat UF...

First of all, yet another troll thread started by you just trying to get the denizens of this forum angry for no reason. All you do is latch on to one thing you view from Clemson (considering you have not followed the team an entire season and read countless articles like we have) and try to justify why we're all wrong about thinking we have a chance of beating Georgia. It sounds like you're just trying to make yourself feel better when both teams know it's going to be a hard fought game.
Second, how on Earth can you compare the Clemson that played Auburn to the Clemson that played LSU? Two completely different teams. Don't believe me? LSU almost lost to Auburn, and yet they also almost beat Alabama many games later. So because they beat Auburn by LESS than us, does that mean they sucked? Yeah, I'm sure their 10 wins, top 10 D, and amazing team they had will say otherwise. Clemson improved A LOT since that game, we went from having like the number 90-something total defense to number 63, with an even better number against the run and on sacks.
As far as Auburn living in our backfield and Boyd making mistakes, we all know that the O-line didn't play as well as they could have. However, they will return 4 starters next year and we've all seen how good Boyd is with making something out of nothing (showed by how he still passed for over 300 against what might be called the best D-line in the country). Also in that game, we saw that Boyd has grown A LOT since the SCar game.
And as far as your backs, you must also remember that Clemson will have the best offense you have played in 2 years, so your O won't have the ball as much. Not to mention, you've lost a lot out of your defense, thus Clemson will have just as much opportunity to control the ball as you will.
Please stop trying to justify yourself. All will be told on August 31 and the game is not going to be a blowout either way. Please grow up and learn how to post with some class. When you're on a rival's forum you should at least respect the fact that they let you in here at all (TheClemsonInsider does not have that same luxury).

Clemson is replacing 5 key players off last season's record breaking offense. Until these replacements prove otherwise......you're just speculating that your offense will be as good or better than the 2012 version.....no? Someone has to replace those 35 tds.

It won't even matter against UGAY's Defense. We may have to worry about that down the road against the likes of FSU. Do you guys even have enough scholarship players to field a secondary.
Take your trash elsewhere. You'll be delt with on Aug 31st and we'll never see you again. We've seen this same song and dance MANY times.

Who is to say that your offense is going to be as good by that same token? Heck, look at the spring game, your offense didn't look very promising during it. You can't know how a team is going to differ from year to year, it's all about speculation. Not to mention, Clemson has A LOT of depth in the positions where they lost key players. It's like with your defense. Even if both offenses had 11-15 All-American seniors returning, that means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING until on the field. It's that same logic for EVERY team, my friend. All we can do is look at last season. It's funny that you take issue with us looking at last season seeing as how you...wait for it...DID JUST THAT IN YOUR FIRST POST. Thank you.

Last season everyone was saying our offense wouldn't be as good either. We heard that Boyd was going to falter because of how he did in the last 5 games of 2011, that Brandon Ford was going to be no where near as good as Dwayne Allen, and that without Sammy we might start the season 0-2 and not have nearly as good as a receiving core. Well, just as you said, Tajh Boyd, Brandon Ford, and DeAndre Hopkins did more than enough to prove the naysayers wrong. Heck, our offense was twice as good as 2011 even!

so, for him to have done that, playing alongside another wr that went in the 1st round of the nfl draft, i'd say we return the 3 things that will be the downfall of thugu in game 1. - 4 starters on the o-line ; 2. - tajh boyd ; 3. - sammy watkins.

And here is how I feel your wrong
Jul 12, 2013, 7:28 PM
|
|
1. You cant predict the outcome of the Clemson/UGA game based on what you saw from one game film, especially the first game of the year a year ago.
2. LSU's defense's focus was putting pressure on Tajh, and he proved he can handle the pressure. (also, Hot Rod can hit the edge just as well as AE could, and an NFL scout has said that Hot Rod follows and reads his blocks better than AE.
3. LSU's DL/LB's was also teeing it up on Tajh, and of course he will run, he's whats called a dual threat QB. He proved he can handle pressure in the LSU game.
4. I think Gurshall will have his yards and probably a TD or two, but again, look to the LSU game, Brent Venables has proven he can gameplan to stop a running game, (and that was with last years dreadful Clemson D, this years D can only be better)
I really hope your dawgs come into Death Valley with the same mindset you have, because they will be leaving not knowing what the heck happened if they do.

Jul 12, 2013, 7:48 PM

you are used to...SCU beat you by 4 TDs(really 5, who wants to count the lame TD they scored down 35 points with less than 2 minutes to go? Not REAL fans) and beat us by less than 2 tds...Ergo Clemson is 2.5 TDs better than UGa last year...See how I did that? Using YOUR math...
