who cares where he goes?? He wouldn't make scjr anymore successful than they are used to being.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The implication is that Dabo would go to Bama.***

I don't understand why people seem hellbent on Nick Saban leaving Alabama. I really don't get it..

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Saban is 64 years old. How many more good years does he

Nov 19, 2015, 5:23 PM

have before he retires? He may feel he is too old with too little time left in coaching to take on a new challenge.

Doesn't matter

Nov 19, 2015, 5:06 PM

We have facilities and a fan base that rivals any team in the SEC... Plus, you don't have the stress of having to deal with the SEC fan base, tough schedule, etc.... Someone mentioned below that the Swinney's have dug roots into Clemson. That's huge, because if Mrs. Dabo aint moving they aint moving. When Dabo gets to the playoffs and wins it all he will be one of the top 5 paid coaches in the country. There is no reason to go to Alabama...

Clemson is his home

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dabo is going nowhere

Nov 19, 2015, 5:15 PM

Alabama will be Alabama with or without Dabo. Why would he hand over the keys to his legacy that he has built in Clemson to take the keys that Nick Saban has built in Bama. Clemson is Dabos baby that he has built and restored. At some point a home becomes home for a man no matter where he is from.

Home is home, If Dabo left we will find another top flight coach Clemson is a brand now this place recruits itself.

I could see Dabo not wanting to follow Saban and waiting

Nov 19, 2015, 5:15 PM

for Saban's replacement to fail and then they come calling for Dabo to be their knight in shining armor coming to their emotional rescue.

Re: I could see Dabo not wanting to follow Saban and waiting

Agreed, there aren't a lot of examples where the coach follows a winning/admired coach and does well. Usually, that next coach has a difficult time/short lived career. Even if Dabo did want to go to Alabama, if I were his agent, I'd recommend he renegotiate with Clemson and then sit this hire out until the next coach gets fired. That's all if Saban were to leave anyways.

Why?

Because they played Death Valley long time ago.

Oh no dead link, sorry! ??

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think Saban showed last time...

Nov 19, 2015, 5:36 PM

he doesn't necessarily care about the money....even said so himself. He is making $7,000,000 now (maybe more) and will be 65 next fall. Getting an extra $3Mill or so a year does nothing for his and or his family. Unless he mismanaged the heck out of his money, they are all set for retirement and inheritances.

Besides, now would be the worst time to go coach at Bama. No one can live up to Saban and anything short of a championship in the first 4 years will probably get you fired. I think Dabo would win titles at Bama but it wouldn't make any sense right now, especially given that he is on the cusp of being elite at Clemson. That's not just fandom talking, just common sense smart thinking for his family.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We just need to win the national championship. I can deal

Nov 19, 2015, 5:41 PM

with anything for the next 3 or 4 years if we pull that off.

Bama fans don't want Dabo

Nov 19, 2015, 5:48 PM

He wouldn't fit into the type of culture they expect their head coaches to create. Dabo is way too "play by the rules" for Bama (in a very good way). Most likely if Saban left, Smart would be promoted to HC, or maybe they'd go after former OC Jim McElwain who's having a lot of success in his first year at Florida

Texas has unsuccessfully tried to hire Saban in the past

Nov 19, 2015, 11:46 PM

He didn't take the money then, what makes anyone think he would now, at his age? I think Saban retires at Alabama. Just my opinion.

I would actually like to see Texas make a comeback. Really no competition with them on recruiting unlike alabama. Plus Alabama is in the SECheat so yeah.
