Has there been any news on Alexander's injury recovery?

Sep 16, 2013, 9:39 PM

Hoping he can still contribute in a big way this season.

both Dabo and Brent said if he did not play this week he was headed to a redshirt unless we have some bad injuries.
Groin injuries like his take a long time to heal and he has not practiced for two consecutive days since camp began.
I thought he would be a big deal this year but that injury has him out, I fear, for the year.

I never heard them say that...

and I listened to last weeks pressers by both of them. I heard Dabo say they are turning down the expectations for him, telling him not to try to rush back. Venables just said he is an enigma in that he hasnt been able to see him play.

Given what might be at stake this season, they will play him if he can get healthy and he can help. Redshirt or not, he can leave after three years in the program (RS soph or true junior), so may as well play him. And the word from summer camp was that he is that good.

Didnt BV said he hadnt seen him take a rep. So how would he be that good and yet the DC never has seen him practice?

Reports from our WR's

coming out of summer camp. That he was the best coverage DB they went up against in their 7 on 7's.

I usually wait for guys assigning PT to say something. Peer opinions dont matter much if you dont catch the coaches eye

Well thats great for you

thanks for sharing that tidbit. Kinda hard for him to have shown the coaches much since he hasn't practiced. Just sharing what I have read on some other sites about his potential.

But again, thanks for letting me know that you will wait for the guys assigning PT to weigh in, that's really good to know.

Pretty sure he got almost well, and had impressed coaches, and then he re-injured the groin. I could be wrong, but I seem to remember that.

Ranked in the top 15 HS players in America regardless of position because he can't play. Injuries do cause redshirts. I am sure Venables knows what kind of talent he has in Alexander.

Puzzled ar Venables' comment "enigma''? I read great things

in early practice reports like the ''second coming of Deon'' Hope he gets better quicker than reports, and he can prove V. Wrong!

Motivation maybe? Or maybe V doesn't fully understand the

injury. That's the only reason why I can see him saying it is an enigma. Can't wait to have this kid healthy. If we sign DJ Smith, we could have two very talented DBs starting in the backfield next year...

So basically, we don't know anything about MA being able to play this year.

IMO - if he can't practice enough to let the coaches see him play, then he gets a RS. No way does BV put him on the field without seeing him practice, and to date, he has not completed a single practice session that anyone here knows about. Sound about right?
