I don’t think he is on the hot seat this season, but I do think this is the year that we learn a lot about him. There is a lot of talent and experience on this defense. If the results are great, it will prove him to be a great promotion/hire. If the results are not good, it will put him on the hot seat going forward. If the results are good but not great, the jury will still be out on him.

Now that we have an excellent O.C., Dabo will have more time to meddle in the Defense. Will we see a Wedding D or a Dabo D?

I don't see a reason for him to start the year on the hot seat. There was definitely a dropoff when Venables left, but that would likely be the case with any DC taking over given how successful BV was.
That being said, I do think it's possible that his seat warms up if we don't see some improvement by midseason. Though I think it would take some sort of monumental collapse for us to see a change this early in his tenure.

Baring a bunch of injuries, this is the NFL money year for XT (if he can stay healthy) a couple of those DL and those LBs. They should be really dialed in for a good year. If Wes can't get them going, then you start to worry about him.

I doubt it.
But Dabo firing Streeter after one season makes it a possibility. If the defense is the reason we miss the playoffs, then I could see Dabo replacing him. I just don’t anticipate that happening. If we stay healthy, the defense will be much improved. We have an elite edge rusher, we have an elite DT room, we have elite LBs, and the secondary returns everyone. This can be a top 15 defense if injuries don’t become an issue.

I think Dabo served notice
I think Wes is going to do great this year though.
If we struggle though, I think it’s going to get pretty hot real quick because of all the talent we have on that side of the ball.

About 7 of the Defensive Guys took the extra year to come back and play for him. His guys BELIEVE in him. Likewise, BS, as much as we like him, had WR's bolting all season.

sign he gives as a defensive sign at home. every time they showed him giving that signal to the defense last year, the opposing team usually had a big play. LOL

Again, we now have a good OC and a competent QB. That will change everything. Way less pressure on D.

I agree that a revitalization of offense will automatically make the defense look better .
