Tell us what shows you tend to like. Cartoons? Romance? Sci fi? Period pieces? Comedy?
Also, list some of your favorites to give an idea.

Haven't watched a series in years, but plenty of movies. I tend to like crime thrillers and edge of your seat, but I'm open minded.

I watched a few episodes of Virgin River a week or so ago, a Netflix series - there's only been one season of 10 episodes so far, will be a second. Not action packed and sounds like chick flick stuff, but it was interesting and something a little different. It's about a nurse practitioner who moves to a small remote town to start over.

Virgin River was good and also Ozark. I liked Black Money, very long series, and Bloodline although I did not like the ending. Dead Wind and The Rain are also good in my opinion.

Bloodline is one of my favorites all time. Yes, the last season meandered but the story overall and blue water scenes are great.

The Americans - just finished. Excellent cold war spy series. Free on Amazon Prime. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2149175/The Americans (TV Series 2013–2018) - IMDb Created by Joseph Weisberg. TURN: Washington's Spies (AMC) is another great one. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2543328/TURN: Washington's Spies (TV Series 2014–2017) - IMDb Created by Craig Silverstein. Breaking Bad was excellent. I'm now addicted to the prequel Better Call Saul. (AMC)
Trying to get into Jack Ryan - first season was good. Second season taking me a while to get into.

I'll have to take a look at Washington Spies.
I gave up on Better Call Saul after a season or two. I think I was waiting for the next season to came out and just got busy watching other stuff and didn't miss it. I think I should try and get back into it though.
I really liked Jack Ryan also. The second season maybe dropped off a bit, but it was good stuff.

The Pacific was outstanding! It was taken from the book by Eugene Sledge (Sledgehammer) "With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa". He was a high school teacher who finally wrote the book that was published in 1981.
Nightmares and anxiety finally spurred him to write from his notes in an old bible he had with him during the battles. The series stayed particularly close to his original book. It includes the carnage that he himself experienced and is considered one of the greatest 1st hand accounts of any war.
The mini-series is outstanding!

Assuming you haven't seen any of these...
Netflix 1) Breaking Bad (Crazy good) 2) Ozarks (Great Drama) 3) Shitts Creek (Hysterical. Give it 2-3 episodes) 3) Stranger Things (80s theme Sci Fi. If you were a kid in the 80s, you'll enjoy this)
Amazon Prime 1) Bosch (Drama, LAPD Homicide, Season 6 comes out Friday). 2) Abstania (Drama, Stana Katic is worth watching alone)

I see a pretty good selection already listed by other posters.
If it hasn't already been mentioned you may want to add "The Man In The Hight Castle" (Amazon prime).

Also if your a Trekie, try watching Star Trek "Enterprise" on Netflix. It has 7 season's worth of new space travel to strange new worlds. It takes place about 50-100 years before the Captain Kirt / Spock era. Details when humans first venture out into deep space. Each week kinda builds on one another.

Here's a few suggestions:
Amazon Prime: The Expanse (Best Sci-Fi out there) Deadwood Jack Ryan Black Sails The Marvelous Mrs Maisel (very funny - great acting) Carnival Row (only if you like Sci-Fi fantasy) The Man in the High Castle
Netflix: Peaky Blinders Ozark The Last Kingdom Knightfall Lost In Space (the new series - not the old one)

I was obsessed with Sons of Anarchy, but that last episode really left a bad taste in my mouth (thats what she said.)
Give how bad the last episode was, I have a really hard time recomending it.... but up until that point I LOVED that show.

Netflix: Stranger Things - especially if you grew up in the 80s. Breaking Bad Better Call Saul Black Mirror Peaky Blinders Ozark - Very good, but give it time. I stopped right before the end of season 1, but restarted upon a recommendation from a friend.

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee - More like a one-on-one talk show with Jerry Seinfeld The Movies that Made Us - Great documentary about some older movies like Die Hard, Home Alone, Ghostbusters
Amazon Prime: Justified Sherlock Dr. Who Bosch The Americans

HBO's introductory free offer and watch their series DEADWOOD. Hands down the greatest series in the history of all creation!
It is a stunning story, effects, dialogue, ensemble, production value. Deadwood has it all. It's based roughly on the true story of the gold strike in Deadwood, South Dakota in 1876. Both Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane are buried there. It is an amazing story!
Can I get an amen?

Thirty one hour episodes. Some despicable characters on that show...very intense, with several plot twists! Very good acting!

SERIOUS QUESTION:
Apr 14, 2020, 7:41 PM
|
|
HAVE YOU WATCHED ANY OF THOSE MOVIES?
I AM SOMEWHAT FAMILIAR WITH THE WIKIPEDIA ARTICLES ON THOSE MOVIES, BUT I HAVEN'T ACTUALLY SEEN ANY OF THEM.
ARE THEY AS BAD AS THEY SOUND?

100 Days of Sodom. It's so graphic and gross to the point of being amusing, but even I couldn't sit through more than 20 minutes of it. It's just ridiculous.
As far as Human Centipede - haven't seen but I kinda want to.
Serbian Film - hell no.

A few people put Bosch on their lists, so just watched episode 1. It seems like it will be good. The only thing odd about it so far is that he is living in a 8 million dollar house on a cops salary.

I watched episode 2. They made a movie about him and he got paid well and used it to buy the house.

After giving some thought of about every series that I've watched, H&11 on Wheels ranks up there with me. It's about building the RR from the east to the west. Even though it's a made for TV series, it do have and shows the hard times of building the rail that far at one time across a very harsh country that is using steam powered trains to get people and Goods across a very dangerous country at that time. One of the best characters was Cullen Bohannon that was the foreman for the Union Pacific, and then went to the Central Pacific, and that gave the series some good twist and changes that help to keep the series exciting, or it did for me bc of the cultural changes between the labor used to build both RR lines. It will give you and idea of the harsh times of building the RR from the East to the West. I've watched it from start to finish twice, and found there were things that I missed catching onto the first time, good series though!!!
