What's the big deal with what Dabo said?

Oct 23, 2013, 9:49 AM

Dabo believes in his program. He gave credit to Florida State for winning that game pretty handily, but if Tajh doesn't fumble that first drive, what would happen? Would we have marched down and gotten 7? Maybe 3? Maybe pin them back and make them work for it a bit more? How about, when we were down 17-7 and grabbed that interception. If that drive hadn't fizzled (run it a bit more effectively and Tajh made some decent throws).

I know, it's a lot of what-ifs and others would then come into play causing millions of different scenarios that could play out, but I believe the man knows what he is talking about. We probably got caught believing our hype, and believing there was no way someone would come into our house and beat us (especially not that badly) added into the fact that they seemed better prepared than us.

But I do believe we could win 3-5 of those match-ups if we played them again and again. Like in baseball where you play a team 3 or more times in a series and however many times over a season (at least in pros) you don't know how a particular lineup is going to respond that day and maybe if that first drive hadn't fizzled, Jameis might have been a little more rattled by the raucous crowd as they celebrated us scoring or driving down the field.

I just think it is wrong to attack Dabo over what he says. I don't always agree with it, but I think he knows what he is doing and at least he isn't attacking people and did own up to us getting out-played and out-coached. Reading some of the comments on ESPN (take a look at how many coots are trolling and crowing over THAT article), it's laughable how they attack our coach for speaking his opinion when theirs goes on air drunk, is known for pitching temper tantrums on national television while looking like some 4 year old who didn't get his way and is even better known for throwing other coaches and players under the bus when his plan doesn't work.

It could be a LOT worse than having a coach who just has an over abundance of confidence in his team and program. We could be Carolina...

I agree we probably could beat FSU 5 out of 10 times

We're so inconsistent, that's probably correct. on any given Saturday when we take the field we could play like the #1 team in the country, or the #30 team.

a COACH shouldn't say that publicly.........

Oct 23, 2013, 10:06 AM

it's fine to tell your players that, but it gives all kinds of "perception" issues as it pertains to clemson/dabo (ie sore loser, excuse maker, sour grapes, etc....)

imagine this board if we went into columbia this year a pounded South Carolina, let's say i don't know 63-17, and afterwards spurrier says................ "if we played them 10 times we'd win 5."

EVERYBODY on this board would be bashing the heck outta him/them and rightfully so.

you just don't say hypothetical crap like that after a record breaking beat down at home.

that being said.........until we lose another game everybody needs to back away from the cliff (and i don't say that much)..........now lose another one and we can all step closer again.

So he can't make statements like that because people like those on this board can't take it?

Ohhh - but we can say anything we want?

People - take the info, turn it over and digest it and move on... he's a good coach. He has brought respect and integrity to the school and the team/program.

RELAX you bunch of whiny little girls

That was not our worse defeat in Death Valley, the 1975 N C State game was worse, 45 to 7 and if i remember right Ted Brown ran for four TD's.
No problem with what Coach said in a press conf. what he said to the players in the meetings was totally different.

I agree with you but what Dabo said wasn't hypothetical.

Half the teams that played Saturday did lose. I can't understand how that stat has any bearing on my Tigers furnishing ### to FUS though.

'Water is wet,' might have gone over just about as well as Dabo's bullchit statement.
