Complete hoax is a bit over the top, but the left certainly portrayed it as more than it was.

Especially with the horn guy. They showed all sorts of footage with that guy being escorted around by two cops. He even said a prayer thanking them.

If you take that view with the other extreme of people saying that horn guy should have been shot - yes than I would say people were exposed to a hoax by the left.

Hoax = a malicious deception. That it was.

2

Mar 7, 2023, 1:36 PM [ in reply to He proved my pt of ignoring the truth when ]

I'm not sure about masks. The gov't waffled a lot in it to begin with as well.

And it seems for many (particularly the old and those immunocompromised) the vaccination is better than having to get sick to get some "natural immunity" that doesn't seem to exist either.

I don't think anyone has prove was made in a lab, but even at teh very beginning there were questions if it was released from a lab.

And "y'all" who? Who did I kill and/or get fired? Personally, I said from the beginning--get vaccinated or not; I don't care one way or the other.

You make a lot of sweeping generalizations.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: What did I ignore again?

Natural immunity doesn’t exist?? You just proved you are out of your area of expertise with that one uninformed statement.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Mar 7, 2023, 2:13 PM

that? I've known folks who have had it 3 or 4x. The last guy I knew who had it 4x said that last time was the worst one yet. Obviously..that's not working.

Do you want someone that is 75, or immunocompromised, to get Covid (and hopefully survive) to get some natural immunity that doesn't exist?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: How many times do you need to get covid before one might

Mar 7, 2023, 2:23 PM

I don’t want anyone to get Covid and anyone who wants the vaccine should take it. Natural immunity is a sound and reasonable medical choice for many including me. It does exist. It’s the way the human body works. That’s not some conspiracy it’s science!! It’s actually high school friggin biology science.

Mar 7, 2023, 3:05 PM

Covid before some type of immunity kicks in? Seeing as every strain has a new ability to infect someone, how is "natural immunity" working?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: So I'll ask again...how many times does one need to get

Mar 7, 2023, 3:08 PM

How many times do you have to take a shot before you get immunity? Can you be unvaccinated, get Covid and then get Covid again? Well sure. It’s not 100% but it’s better immunity in most cases than vaccinated immunity. My entire family had Covid 2.5 years ago. None of us are vaccinated and none of us has had a second infection. It’s working well for us and we take absolutely zero precautions.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How is it "better immunity" if you continually get it

Mar 7, 2023, 3:25 PM

and as with the person I know, had a worse infection the FOURTH time he got it?

You told me this was simple high school biology.

Is it, really?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: How is it "better immunity" if you continually get it

Mar 7, 2023, 3:35 PM

I just told you not a single member of my family has had a second infection. Most of the unvaccinated previously infected that I know have not had a second infection. Can you get it again? As I said, nothing is 10@%. Your friend that has had Covid 4 times has he also had the vaccine?
Ok, now , you asked how it’s high school biology. I’m about to explain it to you and remember I’m coming from a medical background. Here is a definition of “vaccine”. A vaccine is an artificial attempt to create an immune response to a pathogen SIMILAR to the way the human body would respond to the pathogen after having been exposed to the pathogen. In other words, through the vaccine your body is going to attempt an immune response similar to the way mine will ( natural immunity) when exposed to the Covid virus. You have artificial immunity , I have natural immunity. Hope that helps.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, it doesn;t help.

Mar 7, 2023, 4:01 PM

You haven't explained how "natural immunity" to Covid, or any disease is somehow better. Immunity is immunity; how suffering through a sickness to get that is somehow better i fail to understand.

And no, The person that I know who has had Covid 4x is proudly not vaccinated, and keeps spouting something about being "pure blood". I haven't, and won't, attempt to explain that to him.

Personally, I've known more people who have been not been vaccinated and had covid multiple times than I know people who have been vaccinated and not had covid multiple times, but since this is all high school biology and your the medical expert, I'm certain everyone else who disagrees with you is wrong.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: No, it doesn;t help.

Mar 7, 2023, 4:07 PM

It boggles my mind how you’re not understanding. I gave you an explanation of what a vaccine attempts to do and you still don’t get it.
What your friend has experienced is not the norm. We know far more vaccinated people who have had multiple infections.
Now about getting Covid to acquire natural immunity. What makes you think someone wants to get Covid so they can have natural immunity??? What the crap are you talking about? We all got Covid before the vaccines were available. Since we already had Covid when the vaccines came out the decision to decline the vaccine was a no brainer for us. Please tell me that makes sense to you? If it doesn’t I just can’t help you.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Let's see...

1

Mar 7, 2023, 5:23 PM [ in reply to masks dont work. covid created in a lab, natural>=vax ]

1.) Masks do work, but some are MUCH more effective than others. (N95)

2.) covid created in a lab: 5 Government agencies still say it's naturally created, 2 agencies say it's lab created with one being your favorite the FBI and the other giving it a "low confidence" rating. I think the best choice here is we don't know where it was created.

3.) Natural immunization does offer protection as good or better than vaccinations but with the unknown risk of more severe reactions (death/hospitalization) upon receiving it. That's why vaccinations are better, they offer as good protection without worrying about the chances of death/hospitalization. (Unless you believe in conspiracies about the vaccine being dangerous which you didn't cite)

4.) I don't know the specifics of this conspiracy (are you saying over one million have not died due to Covid?) but based on the other ones you cited I'm going to assume you're additionally off base with this, too.

Y’all let me know when I can expect this one to be proven true. The stuff y’all are talking about calling “conspiracies” here are just political grievances and red/blue drama and squabbles. I just don’t see how anyone can deny the rise of conspiracies and the attachment to far right populist politics, Donald Trump in particular. Every time y’all talk about globalists and vaccine bioweapons, the crazies are given life.

So why conflate the issue? I just don’t for the life of me see why so many people can’t just tell the crazies to F off out of conservative politics. Populism and conspiracy garbage has nothing to do with what most people really want, which is to pay less in taxes and be left alone.

As things are though, right-leaning independents who are dying to vote for an adult just can’t stomach being a part of a party or politicians (Trump) that pay lip service to people who believe we’re in an apocalyptic fight against a Ukrainian Jewish Cabal that is producing vaccine bioweapons to depopulate the earth. The anti-establishment bent that Trump introduced and the MAGAs can’t let go of is just a watered-down more vanilla and palatable version of the same thing.

Whatever Gen z liberal queers and left wing unemployed losers are doing has nothing to do with the above, unless it’s just a “well they did it too” excuse, which I don’t let my children get away with. wild theories and speculation. However, what I think is most important is they keep people occupied with this nonsense while the true nuts are going wild attempting to dismantle modern society. Banning ICE vehicles, nitrogen based fertilizers, pushing everyone to all electric everything while simultaneously trying to shut down tried and true energy sources...

It's really crazy to me that people hone in on the Q-anon stuff as the be-all and end-all of conspiracy theories while the climate change crazies are actively trying to de-industrialize western civilization.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: It's because nobody trusts anything anymore, so you get

3

Mar 7, 2023, 12:39 PM

I think there’s a distinction to be made there though. While yes, banning ICE engines is ridiculous, there is at least a nuanced conversation you can have about renewable energy and being a good steward of natural resources. There’s no subtlety in a debate about whether or not globalist Jewish cabals want to establish a satanic new world order.

The fact that nobody trusts anything anymore is a post-2016 phenomenon that I hope dies away as soon as possible. Alternative facts and disparate realities haven’t always been a thing. It’s being done deliberately, it’s torn the country apart, and it is impossibly saddening.

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nobody is having that nuanced conversation though, at least

Mar 7, 2023, 12:55 PM

not the people pushing through the policies, so at the end of the day it's much more destructive than a small group of people believing in a satanic new world order.

Why would it die? Nobody tells the truth, certainly not our leaders or media. People not trusting anything anymore is just a symptom, it's not the root cause of the problem. You can't lie to people constantly and just expect them to fall back in line and believe whatever the given narrative is at the time without question.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Nobody is having that nuanced conversation though, at least

Mar 7, 2023, 1:13 PM

I guess I just don’t see it the same way. Conspiracies have been absorbed into mainstream right-wing politics, and it’s a bigger problem than just a small group. Believing that all journalists, all elected officials, all government agencies, all law enforcement, all election boards, all health agencies, all healthcare, all and every other institution you can think of are all lying to you is an idea spun up out of a distorted reality and fed daily with tidbits of one-sided and simplistic takes on complex questions. It’s also only about a half click away from believing in the New World Order. I don’t know, maybe I’m naive, or maybe I’m just not addicted to rage media and not on outrage social media.

Apocalyptic rhetoric is for simpletons, whether it’s coming from people saying the world will end if we don’t stop driving cars, or from people saying we’re in a fight against evil globalists and institutions.

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It’s closer to your earlier thinking. Plus, this little

Mar 7, 2023, 1:58 PM

corner of the internet has become quite the repository for furious rage media addicts, spiracy nuts, and doomsday culturists. It’s not representative of reality to me. My neighbors and social circles are populated with far fewer extremists. Atleast I don’t think they’re all crazies who just happen to behave better when we’re together.

As for your timeframe, that seems pretty spot on. Here, I can really only think of a couple of pre-2016 nutbags that were regulars.

about conspiracy theories/theorists that have no real impact on our day to day life while totally ignoring the ones that do. That seems to be the trend anyway.

I'm sure we'll get another Marjorie Taylor Greene soundbite as the govt. tries to ban recreational boating for the sake of manatees or something else crazy. Or maybe the My Pillow guy will make some more statements to occupy everyone while the ATF randomly redefines what guns are legal.
