"There was no violation of any policy,” Horton told the Independent Mail on Tuesday. “My goal is always to bring the best out of my players, and we are looking forward to building on the success we have had."
Sounds to me like there's nothing to see here.

A few words to the wise....
Seriously, if it were one complainer I wouldn't be so concerned, but it sounds as though most of the team has issues with him. It needs to be addressed.

Can't imagine it would be very hard to recruit against Clemson right now with the majority of the team possibly bad mouthing the coach to potential recruits.

have been pampered and treated like prima donnas from an early age...just the way golf is. When they get away on their own, or out from under their parents, sometimes they may be treated a little tougher than they are accustomed. Different ones react in different ways. JT has a nice young female assistant coach and she seems like a no-nonsense type of coach, as obviously JT is. I am giving JT the benefit of the doubt now and hoping this gets straightened out!

That is part of what coaching at a major program entails is dealing with the personalities. Golf is a special case where it doesn't matter how good a coach is, raw talent and desire to be the best will always win out. If the best talent on your team is leaving you should adapt your approach. Sounds like that hasn't happened so far and it is hurting the program.

and develop a team chemistry. Golfers have their own individual coaches. A golf coach just finds the talent and develops chemistry.

I cannot speak directly, but based upon what it in the media I would not be surprised if Clemson does not hire a new Women's coach before the close of summer session.

The Biggest thing, I mean the Biggest thing a coach needs to know is this when coaching...
You push Men. You motivate Women.
When you've learned that, coaching becomes a WHOLE lot easier for all parties.

Why would you give a guy the benefit of the doubt

when your top golfers are leaving the program unless the program was good?
This is a new business, and this is a terrible way to attract new customers. Why would any great girl golfer want to risk coming to Clemson when they see the other top girl golfers leaving the program?
Terrible way to handle a "start-up business". Easy solution... Hire a new coach. We fired Tommy Bowden for winning 8 to 9 games a year. You don't have to commit sexual harassment to get fired in the coaching world.

I guess because I know him, in a professional way, and I know what college age golfers are like. This is not the first time a college athlete ir two has left a program because they did not get along with a coach. If you are going to replace a coach every time an athlete complains, you will turn athletic programs into a merry-go-round. If things are not straightened out, if there is indeed a problem, something will be done soon enough!

Some girls just don't respond to being grabbed by the face or by the shoulders. Before being criticized or critiqued by using the 7 words George Carlin used to say couldn't be said on TV. Other people besides me need to determine if that best represents the environment they want for Clemson. Players and parents will compare the situation here with other schools. The top players who have professional golf aspirations might not choose a place where no one has gotten better.

We just lost our Freshman (Stephens), the only one to ever make the NCAA's, to Bama. There is no reason our M & W golf shouldn't be top 20 every year.

Just to post facts team scoring averages for the 3 years of the program. 2013-14 Fall scoring avg. 875.5 Spring scoring avg. 903.2
2014-15 Fall scoring avg. 901 Spring scoring avg. 924.2
2015-16 Fall scoring avg. 881.2 Spring scoring avg. 900
In football coaches say the tape doesn't lie. In golf the numbers don't lie.

Hey keepitreal......Al.......your daughter went from having a 71 stroke in the fall (you were in jail) to having a 75 stroke average in the spring when you got out of jail and tried to take over. You couldn't get a job (after all you were a convicted felon) and made her leave after the first year. Your comments that she wanted to stay for four years is the biggest BS I have ever heard. Everyone associated with Your family knew she was on a 2 year plan. They ran you out of the state of Ga. and you are lucky the mob didn't take you out for skipping town of not 1, not 2, but 3 casinos. I hope you have fixed your drug addiction. Is it not sad enough that you have ruined your own life but you have to ruin Coach Hortons as well. If he is that bad, why is your daughter still on the team? How could you let her play for such a bad man? You are evil and nobody at Clemson has the balls to stop you. Thanks to Peanut and Root for showing the real you.......they are true Clemson fans!

From my understanding of their complaints, I doesn't appear that the golf coach has done anything differently as far as physical or verbal than our men's coaches do. I'm pretty sure, most of our football and basketball players have had a coach tell them to get their head out of their ### or something similar. Also, we have all witnessed our coaches put their hands on a player. Can the women's golf coach be held to a different standard than the men's coaches? Do we even want to head down that slippery slope.

into much much more than what it is. Any coach I have ever had has made some kind of physical contact during the coaching teaching process or just to say great effort or a congrats hug.
But now days people are on guard waiting for a reason to get something started or a reason to file a law suit.
