What's your favorite beach in South Carolina?

1

Jul 17, 2023, 1:39 PM

Why is it your favorite?

Hilton Head

I just love traffic and Ohio.

We were just down in Sea Pines. Didn't have any traffic

issues but also never left Sea Pines. I thought it was really nice.

Someone else told me Hilton Head had a bunch of traffic.

North end Pawleys Island. I could go up after school, or skip a class or two if the surfing was good. Fishing and crabbing at the inlet was easy. it was never too crowded. Great access to a convenience store where I could pick up a tall boy of Arizona Iced Tea on the way out.

Sullivan's Island. Why?

1

Jul 17, 2023, 1:46 PM

IOP, MP, and the Holy City are so close.

Edisto is my winner.

Not because of the jellyfish.

Because of the cool seashells and sand dollars. I had boxes and boxes full of those things when I was a kid that I found. And the shark teeth, I bet I found 1000 of them on that beach.

My very close 2nd!

Lived in Edisto from 99-02 off and on. Sweet gif following hurricane Floyd, and stayed a while. Love it there, and got to know it well.

I love when I'm driving to the west coast of FL and I love when I pass all of the SC beaches on my left on the way down, and again on the right when returning.

Family, grew up spending summers and spring break there, quiet, and still enough room to enjoy it.

I'd take trashbags out there and then pick up tons of trash that has washed in from the boaters when I was high on uppers. And then I'd get high/drunk and lose my motivation and just leave the bags out there.

So somewhere out there is a lot of trash in nicely organized piles for someone to pick up.

We made it a tradition to visit every Fall Break and just spent our first summer vacation there.

Would dew again.

Until they get to about 15 or so and start finding teenage meetups via snapchat and get to drinking and carrying on and wanting to be on the golf cart until the police send them home.

Nearly every night on that island this time of year there will be an arrest made or an ambulance turn up, normally from teenager/college kid shenanigans.

The fun is in the U14 crowd. Ages 15-22 don't make for a good family vacation any longer at that place.

For ages 15-22, it's really the best idea to go to a family

Not because it is the best beach or anything, but that is where the ole family sea shack has stood for nearly 70 years and where I have spent the majority of my beach vacations my entire life.
