Why arent we ranked in MBB?

Is it weak schedule…bad losses vs good wins…media bias…too many losses in total?
Would love to hear from some aficionados.

but still ranked in the top 20. They're clearly still getting A LOT of mileage out of beating Kentucky and Tennessee earlier in the season.
With respect to Clemson, while the team is still in the "others receiving vote" category, at least in the Coaches Poll, losses to NC State and Notre Dame coupled with the media's negative view of the ACC are the likely drivers. Losing 6 of 9 in January and February sure didn't help.

I can rest easy knowing that we are better than the coots. We are ranked higher than them in all of the net/bpi rankings and we beat them and Alabama this season.

Having observed college sports for decades i am of the opinion that:
Elite athletes perform at their best almost all of the time. Even if they are off one day they are still really, really good
Average college athletes perform at an elite level sometimes. But typically they perform to a norm.
CBB has not had many elite athletes. Not sure if that is a reflection on him or a reflection on our reputation as a program.
That could explain our ups and downs.

old school to look past basic W/L record. Teams get rewarded in the polls for winning alot of games against weak competition. Our schedule rating is much more difficult overall than SCs. We are rated accordingly higher in NET, KenPom, etc that, but not in the polls that are hyper focused on wins and losses.

all of a sudden the SEC passes the ACC in basketball???? Yeah I dont think so. sure they are good in the regular season, but the last three years they have collapsed in the post season. overrated every single year.

Cox in Alabama won’t make it past the second round and then the rest of their top tiers will fall by the elite 8. Tar Heels and blue Devils likely to make a run to the final four

Basketball is much different than football as the smaller schools and mid-majors actually have a chance to compete at the highest levels so the number of schools considered for the tip 25 is much larger than football. This means there are some really good teams not in the top 25

Must be why they allow 68 teams to compete for the bb championship but only 4 ( before this year) get a shot at the football championship

Here is what is laughable about all of this. Since 2000 the SEC has won a grand total of 3 championships. The BIG has 1. Big XII has 3. Big East has 6. The ACC? 8......count em 8 nattys. Media can make whatever perceptions they want and try and include as many SEC AND BIG teams they want and it still hasn't and won't pay dividends. Sadder still is the fact that the B1G last won a natty in 2000. SEC's last was in 2012. Don't believe the hype the pundits are spinning at you.

Our record is better than Bama and we beat them head to head.. 2-0 vs the SEC both of which are ranked. Clemson has struggled in conference but yet the SEC is supposed to be better than the ACC 😂😂.. These ESECPN sure know their stuff. By the way Bama sure is looking good right now lol

Also, the SEC hasn't won a National Title since 2012. The ACC has 4 since then.

Looking at the ESPN app and noticed USF was ranked #24 with a 23-5 record. I scrolled through their record and noticed that had not beat a single team currently ranked in the top 25
