Wilkins could have slammed the door, but he didn't.

May 24, 2012, 7:12 PM

I think that says a lot. He could have said "we are in the ACC to stay and have no interest in leaving whatsoever. " Instead he almost invites other conferences to contact us. Hmmmm

Baiting the SEC?***

Wondered the same thing.

May 24, 2012, 7:18 PM

I would think the BOT would want to make absolutely sure that the door to the SEC is closed before agreeing to go to Big 12.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't see any way around the scu veto.

May 24, 2012, 7:33 PM [ in reply to Baiting the SEC?*** ]

Just zero possibility there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

USuC will do whatever Slive tells them to do. Do you really

May 24, 2012, 7:39 PM

think USuC and Florida would leave the SEC over CU and FSU joining?

LMAO at anyone thinking the coots have any pull in the SEC. They will do as they are told. That being said, I don't see the SEC offering Clemson based on their whole desire to have new markets...not because the coots are keeping us out...HAHA!

Probably true, but what if FSU and Ga Tech left for the Big 12? USC would no longer have the alliance votes needed to block us. Having said that, I think the SEC would rather have Va Tech than us because of their TV market.

Spot-on

May 24, 2012, 8:02 PM

The SEC will pursue VT and a NC school.

SEC doesn't want Clemson or FSU….

May 24, 2012, 11:11 PM [ in reply to Baiting the SEC?*** ]

this is all about the Big 12. Clemson and FSU are already recruiting just as good or better than SEC teams, so they don't want to add two schools that could push down one of their traditional powerhouse teams.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yup.that statement was far from...

we are ready for our invitation .

It sure would be nice if the pressure to expand to 16 teams

May 24, 2012, 7:29 PM

would force the SEC to take in two more schools. I think the Big XII is headed that way in order to compete nationally with the SEC. If the SEC wants to be proactive perhaps they ###### at least a possible pair of teams (Clemson & FSU) before the Big XII gets their hands on the 'Noles.

I would be, but even if they did feel pressured to expand by

May 24, 2012, 11:09 PM

two, they would go for VT and a North Carolina school. When you say before the Big12 gets their hands on the Noles, are you thinking they'd take FSU and not us?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I still think FSU is the target- the second team is a toss

May 26, 2012, 5:51 PM

up in my mind. Clemson would be my hope because an ACC minus FSU and someone else would be slim.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpgtnt_user_logo.pngbadge-ringofhonor-elswann.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

SEC doesn't want teams that can be powerhouses….

May 24, 2012, 11:13 PM [ in reply to It sure would be nice if the pressure to expand to 16 teams ]

so they will go after schools that are less of a threat on the recruiting trail like va tech, nc state, or ga tech.

Re: SEC doesn't want teams that can be powerhouses….

May 24, 2012, 11:19 PM

I think FSU and Clemson are a package deal, either we both go to the big12 or the sec together.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's in interesting angle. I'm still thinking we go to

May 26, 2012, 5:53 PM [ in reply to SEC doesn't want teams that can be powerhouses…. ]

four 16 team leagues then break into eight 8 team conferences and shape it like the NFL. It's not like the NFL's product is broken right now.

I for one and thankful for the end of bowl games. I haven't enjoyed them in years.
