Last mimute effort by Florida A&M didn't help to $ up as the HC there. Manny Diaz building a good staff at Duke.
Diaz worked with Willie while both were at Middle Tennessee State.

1.5 mill and that was 2017. My math isn’t the sharpest but it’s more than 700,000.

Don't be surprised if he takes a co offensive cordinator possition at Duke with Jonathan Brewer who they got from SMU. Similar to Jeff Scott and Tony Elliot at Clemson. Wilie was Offensive Cordinator at Middle Tennessee. He has eyes on a HC at FBS level in next few years.

Shows how the portal has twists and turns.

Last year FSU signed a promising RB, Rodney Hill. He played quite a bit and looked like he had good potential. With Benson and Toafili coming back, he was a prime candidate for the portal. The NIL collective offered him enough money so that he wouldn't enter the portal. He came back this year. With Benson leaving next year he looked to be ready to take on his share of the load at RB in 2025. (Norvell used RB by committee; Hill was projected to split time with Toafili as the top two backs.)

Rumors are he asked for more money to come back than Benson made this year. Collective said no. So, he entered the portal. Seems he learned that he wasn't nearly as highly thought of by other schools as he was told he would be. Signed with FAMU, almost certainly for less money than he would have made if he had stayed at FSU.

Now, his head coach enters the coaching portal and leaves.

The portal is a gamble. Some players win, and some lose.

Duke will go back to being...duke?

A good run by an ex-coach will prove to be just that. Flash in the pan.

Hope Simmons gets paid well for one or two seasons in Durham.
