Winningest Coach in Clemson Football History Delivering on a Promise

When Clemson hired Dabo Swinney in 2008, I admit that I was not sure about the hire. I thought Clemson needed to hire someone with head coaching experience and a proven track record.

I could not have been more wrong!!


Dabo believed. Dabo gave Terry Don Phillips a handwritten note when Phillips handed him the keys to the Clemson kingdom in 2008 (below). Fortunately, Terry Don Phillips believed him.

Given his accomplishments, it seems fair to say that Dabo has delivered on that promise!!
- 12 straight double-digit win seasons
- 11 Bowl games
- 8 ACC Championship games
- 7 Major bowl games (NY 6 and National Title games)
- 6 CFP appearances
- 4 National Title game appearances
- 2 National Championships games

I was in Dabo's corner all the way. After all those years with a coach who had no passion for the game or our W/L tally I just wanted one that cared about Clemson and was willing to work to show it.
