to protect students.

will he allow them to carry?

not likely.

That place (SCAR/5Points) is the pit of a sorry city. I speak from experience - I lived and worked in the Five Points area for several years. Had bars on the windows of my house, and I lived on one of the "nice" streets in the area.

There are SO MANY better places to live in this beautiful state. Literally hundreds of them; we may live in the most naturally blessed area in the country. Life's to short to waste in a hellhole like Columbia. It's ain't Newark or Detroit, but it's closer to them than anywhere else around here.

By releasing almost exactly the same statement every time someone gets shot and not actually doing anything?

"Now is the time to implement effective change for a safer Five Points. What more will it take"

A bulldozer would be a good start.

"I say we take off and nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

It's one of my favorite movie quotes, and so versatile! It fits almost any scenario.

Yep, pretty good flic. I love the Bill Paxton one liners in that movie. I hope they make another but it doesn't look like they will.

There's a Prometheus sequel coming, which is almost-but-not-quite an Aliens movie.

Columbia is pretty slummy, no question about it.***

If I had a child in ChickenVille and a child in Jail

Mar 30, 2014, 2:05 PM

I'd break the child out of PeckerTown first.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd visit the one in jail more often

Mar 30, 2014, 5:44 PM

That's for sure!

"Also, we are changing student behaviors by spreading the message of 'Stand Up Carolina,' to take care of yourself and each other.

Stand Up Carolina = SUC, yep, sounds about right.

The problem is that USC is located in a large Urban center. The local PD would be CRUCIFIED in this PC world if they started to crack down to much. The business owners, the USC president, etc..all have asked for additional police units down there but there has already been some blow back about about "profiling". There is no way out of this situation for USC....Not in this PC world we live in currently. LP

SCU has a hand in this problem......

Mar 30, 2014, 5:46 PM

they accept too many marginal students who are more inclined to commit crimes than study. And I'm not talking about black students. You see plenty of SCU's white student's mugshots on the news from getting arrested in 5 points. The racial profiling is on SCU's part because they are trying to avert attention away from themselves, and blame non students, when in fact a majority of the people arrested in 5 points are SCU students.

Also, with their inferiority complex, SCU has played enough politics to make Columbia as boring as possible. Columbia could have had a bowl game if the coots didn't have inferiority complex. They ran off a minor league hockey team. They have kept out minor league baseball in Columbia.
