etc. thought and said similarly, there might be a whole lot of less angst in collegiate football right now.

Honesty, humility, common sense, common decency and generosity are too often missing...It's all about
money, and we all have heard the old adage about that.

Peace, my friends.

Kind of crazy that statement would draw such a response

considering just about every athlete in a interview, at every level, in any sport will give thanks to God for their success and abilities.

That is exactly why the media dislikes him. He is a Christian, talks about God, and he wins.

Crazy story about FFRF...

Dec 22, 2022, 12:48 PM

My wife is an assistant principle at a high school here in NC. Every year, a couple days before graduation, they would host a Baccalaureate service at the school. The school is a 4A school and there are very few places in the county that are able to host the amount of people that come to events like this (graduation is held on the football field).

A couple years ago they basically received a cease and desist letter from FFRF. We hadn't heard of them before and were wondering why someone from Wisconsin was worried about our school in NC. Evidently a parent had an issue with the school hosting the service and made a stink about it. There is nothing mandatory about it or attendance required for it and is not led by the school, they just host it. Well, now the seniors and their families have to find somewhere else in the county each year to have Baccalaureate. All because of one person and FFRF.

I’m totally against organized religion and as a free thinker I’m totally against organized free thinking groups too. It’s another religion just without a deity. Are they just jealous of religions power or do they truly want minds to be free is what comes to my mind?

To be fair, not all sports fans or media personnel are Christians. There's a time and place for religious talk. Many question Dabo's timing on this one...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Now that's a good observation . . .

Dec 22, 2022, 10:53 AM [ in reply to Kind of crazy that statement would draw such a response ]

I think the standard operating procedure of the media and secular society in general is to put up with or endure with the "throw-away" references to God that many make, b/c (a) they often aren't specific enough to really present any particular doctrine (and therefore any particular point of objection or cultural threat to secularlism); and (b) b/c there are a lot of habitual/cultural (i.e. superficial) comments and that reflect general attitudes and postures about God but that don't really have the force of conviction and a life that actually bears that fruit behind it.

With Dabo, he's getting a bit more bold than the typical "throw away" comments, so he gets more blowback, b/c it's more of a hint of a threat to the secular establishment. Not a huge threat, by any means . . . b/c even his comments aren't exactly super-specific . . . it's not like he's a theologian or a Christian cultural critic or commentator. But still, the secular left knows they need to police the boundaries of their central tenets, or the regime will start to come unglued.

you are correct

maybe after what happened recently in NFL

The media will quit hiding from thanking God
