We pretty much all agree social media is evil for a number of reasons. The ignorance and bizarro world in which the left lives is consistent with the fact that they dominate users in social media.
Democrats are more likely than Republicans to use multiple social media platforms, including Instagram and Twitter, and in every case use platforms more than Republicans (well, except Pinterest which is nearly identical).
Platforms that provide news feeds and recommended content are more likely to proliferate left wing content not only because their company culture leans left, but also because more democrats are users. I would think most of the political differences in users of social media can be accounted for by the fact that younger people are more likely to use the platforms, and also more likely to be left-leaning politically. Pretty basic stuff.

I have posted the social dilemma a bunch of times here just to try and bring awareness to how addicting and awful it is. I have never suggested SM is a good thing overall, ever. One of my 'pet' sayings is that Apple ruined the world by inventing the iPhone, just because social media has created an entire generation that is pretty highly dysfunctional in a number of areas.
If you think it is hypocritical to believe SM is bad, but also to think some posts are accurate, funny, relevant or whatever, then so be it. But that is not a real definition of hypocritical.
If I were a user, at all, of SM, I would agree that it would be hypocritical. Is TNet social media? If so, it's my only one.

Let's look at your OP. It's basically a "Ah ha! Libs use social media more! Ha!", which is like bragging about being the smallest kid at fat camp. Seems like it's a problem across the board.

The core social media part, if we neglect politics (which is not the center of discussion with HS and college-aged kids), is what I am addressing. Things like FOMO - fear of missing out. The anxiety it causes when people see others in these glamorous scenes or whatever and they wonder why they can't be there or why they can't look like the 'influencers.' They think 'everyone has tons of friends except me.' This is true.
Group think and group acceptance are social dynamics in full force within the social media ecosystem.
The fact that kids no longer talk to one another as an initial way of meeting is not good. More girls than guys, but both will ruminate horribly over why their so/bf/gf has not snapped them, messaged, texted or whatever. Far far too much emotional energy spent wondering why someone wrote what they wrote or didn't write what they wanted to hear.
And, all that stuff has nothing to do with politics. It is just the sad facts of social media and how people are addicted to it and can be influenced by it.
However, the prevailing conditions of people being hooked on their phones and SM in general very much have an effect during, say, voting season when everyone's phone is lighting up about this or that. Fake news travels faster than real news. The group think matters - it changes peoples minds and makes them align with 'everyone' else because that's the nature of the beast. Truth can be elusive in the social media world, but that does not matter so much.
I'd agree that age is probably the biggest factor, followed by whether you have a job and, if so, if it's an actual job where you are busy doing actual work. Being unemployed or having a job where you have, let's just say, a lot of free time would lend themselves to increased social media use, one would think.

I said people voted for Biden because 1) Biden pushed lies about COVID all over SM, 2) the SM companies themselves censored conservative voices and blocked factual news that could be negative to democrats.
This is 100% true and cannot be disputed because the facts are out there. Candidate Biden said he would shut down the virus and not the economy - lie. Candidate Biden said everyone would be alive if Trump would have done his job. Many more examples. The facts released by Elon about the DOJ and FBI engaging Twitter (and other SM companies) telling them who to block, etc.
The biggest example of SM companies actively working for the left is the HB laptop story. If you do not know the story or do not believe SM companies hid the truth, then I can't help you. More of a big deal, however, was what you do not know about what the SM companies and their left-wing employees did to alter facts, hide stories, promote stories, etc.
