If she's a hollerer, she'll be a screamer.
If she's a screamer, she'll get you arrested.

Not really.

The Times is leftist and way urbane and they certainly hate Trump out loud, but their journalism standards are top-tier. There's some open concern about their editorial department and the backlash about an op-ed they published by Tom Cotton - are they censoring voices on the right or refusing to grant a platform to dangerous militancy, always a fine line (I myself personally think Cotton is a dangerous nut job), but their journalism is really, really well-regarded.

The press - the actual press - is really good in some ways and it's a fascinating world full of some really, really smart people...but they need to do a better job of engaging with the broader public, too, and they definitely do not seem to realize that country doesn't necessarily mean dumb.

I know it's the New York Times, but my biggest criticism of them is they could stand to get out of the city a lot more. But some of their journalism is as good as it gets.

When you voice your opinion not the facts then you are not a journalist. You are writing your opinion and for me I don't care about your opinions. Everyone has one and most people think everyone else opinion stinks but not their own. Keep your opinion to yourself.

Journalism is dead in the US. Face it.

You should read their actual news articles, not the opinions

section. HTH

Yup. They are entirely separate departments.

But by the way, their op-ed section includes David Brooks, Bret Stephens, and Ross Douthat, all of whom are conservative.

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

What's weird about that list

Sep 28, 2020, 5:48 PM

is how few facts it provides about the supposed "NYT bogus stories." It was fun to see how little sourcing is done to prove any of the claims, particularly about the NY Times.

And then, hilariously enough, the author of that nonsense has fake news right on her own home page, including her bogus report that the "vast majority" want Ginsburg replaced "ASAP." Wow, that's newsworthy! Except, no, it's an informal poll of her own doofus readers, as opposed to a real poll with any sort of validity, objectivity, reasonable margin of error, statistical relevance, etc.

So that's ironic and funny, but anyway yeah that list of "NYT bogus stories" is awesome.

Conservative media exists almost entirely for the sole purpose of negating actual media.

Again, I'm back to the warning label. Any source over a certain number of views must receive a rating - much like a movie rating (PG, PG-13, R, etc) - that shows their bias and factuality level, and if they're fake news they should have to wear that badge of shame as well. If not, they get fined. That rating would need to be watermarked to the screen for the duration of their broadcast so there's no mistaking what people are looking at.

It's fine for people to say what they like. What's not fine is when they continue to provide "alternative facts" that deliberately mislead wide swathes of the electorate; if it continues it's going to lead to the most pointless civil war in history.

A rating system is a great idea but would have to be voluntary, I think. Which means you'd want an apolitical rating organization--perhaps comprised of several existing fact-checking organizations--to get together on creating and managing the system. Media outlets can apply to be accredited with the group, and will be rated. Not unlike the BBB.

If a media outlet doesn't get accredited, then it's basically acknowledging that it's unreliable.

Most of the National media is left wing or left lean. They all predicted that Killary would win but she they finally saw Trump was going to win they started crying one said it was whitelash what ever that means. Then they start on this racist thing. The crazy Maxine Walter call for his impeachment the day he won the election. You people beat all I have ever seen.

No offense but you barely qualify as literate. Anyway, go on, where did Maxine Waters touch you?

You can thank my grammar on integrations of public school systems in SC, first yearer right here. I was the guinea pig or that is what my parents said anyway. They skipped phonics in my school how about yours? I can do better if I try and thanks for the heads up.
