Think about this Tim Tebow fans

Tim Tebow is a back up qb statistically. If you compare Charlie Whitehurst numbers with Tim Tebow you will see they are about the same. You will also see they were getting paid about the same. The one difference is San Diego fans don't hold up Whitehurst signs every time Rivers throws an INT. You can find a 2nd string qb without the "cult" following like Tebow. Why go for the girl with the baggage when there is an identical girl without the baggage? (Im not anti Tebow, and I don't think its Tebow's fault. I just don't see the positives.)

The reason there are so many Tebow fans isn't bc of how he

plays football, it's bc of how he carries himself as a person. The way the world is going these days it's refreshing to see.

I understand the popularity he brings in because of his character. I also understand that he is not a good NFL QB. I think he was overrated in college. His offense are all NFL players now.

was a prolific COLLEGE QB career. Sometimes that translates to a good pro career as well. I do think the last chapter has been written about Tebow.

Hmmm. There's this one thing about Tebow - and that's that he tends to just find ways to WIN-WIN-WIN. Maybe that's why fans hold up the signs. They also like having the chance to WIN.
I could care less whether he plays or not - but I have to give a man credit when he deserves it.

If in not mistaken, Tajh has 73 PASSING TDs. A lot of Tebow's were runs.

Record as a starter

even if you don't include college his win percentage as a starter in the pros is most likely better than any other back up quarterback in the NFL. Quarterbacks should be judged like starting pitchers. More by their win/loss record than their statistics in getting those wins and losses.

So? Alex Smith was 6-2 before getting hurt, had taken his team to the conference championship the previous year and still go dropped for Kaepernick. The NFL is not about deserving or not, it's about sustainability and backing the guy who you believe can carry your franchise for 4, 5, 6 years plus. No front office had that faith in Tebow, period. If I'm building a team, I don't want a quarterback that needs a great defense backing him to win, I want a guy who can go out and win a shoot out because sometimes that's what you need.

The OP compared him to back-ups. When NFL teams look for back-ups they are not looking for guys to carry their team for 4-6 years. They are looking for guys who can find a way to win until the starter is back. That's why I mentioned win percentage. I didn't say he should get picked up because he deserves it either. Lots of guys deserve to play in the NFL but don't help a team win. Personally if I own a football team I want to win more than I want a QB who throws for 400 yards in a shootout loss.

I'm sorry but I can't agree with you that he is a realistic nfl caliber player. You focus on winning but a lot of bad quarterbacks have won games and a lot of good quaterbacks have lost. Over the same time period Tebow has as many playoff wins as Rogers. I'm no taking him over Rogers and I wouldn't approve of him to back Rogers either. As backups go I'd take a less experienced guy who fits my offense over a "winner" who has proven he can't pass at an NFL level and brings the circus with him when he comes to town. I can pay the other guy less and I don't get fans screaming for Tebow when my QB throws an interception.

Tebow did not win those games, the Broncos as a team won those games. Tebow's fans need to recognize that if the Broncos didn't have such a great defense that season, he would not have gotten so much credit. The fact is his style was not sustainable. And using him as a back up is foolish. For what pro team does it make sense to run one offense for the starter and a different one for the backup? When really the only time a backup should come in is if the starter gets hurt or the end of the season with playoffs locked up. Tebow's stubbornness to not try another position and his fans' cult like behavior is why he doesn't have a job.

My bad, I read that thinking that was his total TD statistic. I believe that Tajh will earn more by the end of next year though. And Tajh has played two years. Tebow played 4 (sharing time in his freshman year with Chris leak

actually wrong again...Tajh played his freshman year

and although he played a few less snaps, he did play similar amount to Tebow.
Tajh had more pass attempts (63 v 33) and Tebow had more rushes (89 v 33). Try looking at some stats before saying things.

They want to see the success story of Tebow finally making it in the NFL and overcoming all the "doubters".
Don't know if it would happen, but will make a great story if it does.
