full of it? or both? Both guys on the TV were praising the awesome stuff our relief pitchers have like they were all the second coming of Nolan Ryan. That color guy kept screaming about throwing to the "L" and how if Garris and Gordon keep it up, they are "unhittable." WHAT?? He almost had a cow when Clayton would get 1-2 on almost every hitter, then lose them. Then he kept raving about our pitching coach was one of the best in the business and had really done a great job with these pitchers. WHAT? Virtually every loss this year( and there haven't been many) has been as a direct result of poor bullpen performance. Even some of the great wins were in spite of poor bullpen pitching, as we just outscored people. What doesn't make sense to me is when the announcers carry on about the "stuff" our guys have and the wonderful coaching, yet they cannot throw strikes or get people out in crunch time. Something doesn't make sense.

Clayton has definitely regressed. Just look at stats from last year to this year. We preach fill up the window with strikes. So, imo we serve up a juicy one so as to not walk someone. Gordon has been good most of the time. Although, he does seem to tighten up in close games.

Malstadt and marchal have been pretty good. Malstadt did have a rough outing against Louisville but mostly been reliable. Clayton may have had a couple good outing but against good hitting teams, he's gotten punched every time.

Conclusion, you nailed it. All have pitches and have flashed. None have been consistent. Consistent is what we need. As said by op, that lack of consistency makes us very average.

It’s his job to keep the hype train going for TV…

Lastly…It’s college baseball dude…Pitching will always be average to awful. Once the MLB takes the pick of the liter, college gets the scraps.

The answer has been to switch to wooden bats for 2 decades.

But DeMarini, Louisville Slugger, Easton and others would go out of business.

So instead, they keep screwing with the balls and deadening the bats.

TV hype. Results are what they are. A 9 run lead in the 7th would make any clemson fan nervous.

Unhittable; unfortunately that’s not what he did. Two of the homers were sliders that didn’t do much sliding; not sure about the third.
