As the article explains, the extra compensation above base pay was mostly due to the buyout Miami provided for Cristobal to exit Oregon. It was further bumped to pay the taxes due on that income. This is 2023 taxes just now becoming available to review. There’s nothing here that isn’t done by D1 athletic departments all over the country every time they lure away a highly compensated coach.

federal filings and releasing them (which is where the known figures come from). Therefore it doesn't 'scare' me in the least.

The Sate of Florida has a law that all business agreements of public institutions are subject to public examination. I assume this applies to anything done by the athletic department of FSU.

This law is one of the reasons that some believe that the State of Florida will be successful in making public the contract between ESPN and ACC.
