Men's tennis on NCAA tourney bubble

Ok so based on projections -> http://collegetennisranks.com/rankings/projected/d1m Clemson men's tennis is currently the 3rd team out of the NCAA field right now. (some other teams ahead are too far below .500 to qualify).

We are closer than I thought because the cut line is at 50 right now which is lower than usual.

Last four in:
Pacific (zoomed up to #47 from unranked following a stunning upset of #13 San Diego)
Liberty
UC-Santa Barbara
Old Dominion

Last four out:
Cal
Rice
Clemson
Boise State

We are currently at 11-12 overall. The rule is you have to be ,500 or better to get into the NCAA tourney. We just added a match vs Alabama State on Thursday, who was actually a top 75 team earlier this year, to get that record to .500. We must beat BamaSt and #61 Virginia Tech this weekend and assume a loss to #2 Virginia.

Beating VT, who is ranked #61, will not help out ranking a ton but will likely move us up into the field barely. We will then need to win at least one match in the ACC tourney to remain at .500 and get into the NCAA tourney.

So all in all we have a decent shot for our fist NCAA appearance since 2014. Better chance than previous years heading into the final two weeks of the year for sure.

Oh wow, that's fantastic. Gosh, that makes the ND loss sting a little more though. Sounds like if we had taken care of business against the domers, we would likely have been in. I saw the additional Thursday game and I'm excited. Gives us something to look forward to. Thanks again. Really appreciate all the help.

I'm assuming the ladies would have to win the tournament to get in. Wonder what happened with Samantha buttocks. Thought she might turn out to be our best lady tennis player.

yeah the women are actually ranked higher than the men

at #52 but are much further away from the tournament because on the women's side, the cut is around #42. (due to less mid majors being in the top 50 in women's than the mens side and also the women having more conferences to give auto bids to).

So the women are about 10 spots away and would need to sweep #36 Wake and #13 NC State this weekend to get back into the mix.
