to explain how UNC is the 3 while Wake (10), UVA (7) and Clemson (9) are lower seeds.
UNC finishes 7th in ACC regular season. They also lost to both UVA and Wake during the season. They are ranked behind Wake in the national rankings. The 3 teams to beat UNC this year are all lower seeds.
Did the UNC AD create the bracket?

I can see Notre Dame as the 2 seed but I think the biggest gripe should come from Wake Forest for only being 10th. I actually like where we are in the bracket.

It's inexplicable. They clearly left out the criteria that puts emphasis on conference performance and 2nd half of season. If you finish top 4 in the ACC in the regular season and win the ACC tourney there is no excuse for not being a top 4 seed in the NCAA's. We slipped up a few times at the beginning of the season when we were working in a completely new starting lineup/team. We were as good as any team in the country for the second half of the regular season. And we play on the ACC. No other conference is even close talent wise. If we played in a conference like Marshall or WVU or Indiana we would have won just asamy games.
Oh well. This will light a fire under a team that already had the capability to win it all. I hope Noonan publicly blasts this BS.

Just like basketball, the selection committee in soccer relies heavily on metrics. In soccer it's still RPI (basketball is NET).
RPI ranks of ACC teams that made the NCAAs:
3 - Notre Dame
5 - UNC
9 - Virginia
15 - Wake
17 - Clemson
20 - Duke
21 - Louisville
27 - Syracuse
30 - Pitt

The answer is incompetence.
They don’t have their position because they know something. They have their position because their tie is the right color and they gave somebody’s aunt/cousin/neighbor/mother/friend/business partner, two free weeks in their beach house last year.
