What in the world ever happened to that RH Tig guy?

Oct 4, 2005, 2:33 PM

LOL! Sorry folks, I've missed you all, but I was captured by the vampire simians and forced to build Republicrat Robots for the last month. It's been tough, but I'm hoping the bossman vampire simian will lighten the load here soon. I've been so out of touch that I let my trademark expire, but I promise to rectify that ASAP...work has been unreal as of late but that's what happens around here when you are responsible for the launch of a new product.

Biggest reason I wanted to post today was to tell this incredible story...

In March of 2004, our family dog went missing. Bear was a mixed lab/collie/golden and without compare he had the greatest temperment and personality you could ever want in a canine. Most of you understand how much a part of the family a dog can be, and Bear was that and more. After weeks of riding around looking for him, newspaper ads, flyers, etc., we had given up hope that he would be returned or found.

Last night, I get home from work and there is a voice mail from our veterinarian who tells us that a dog at a vet clinic in Mooresville, NC (about an hour north of Rock Hill) was scanned for a microchip and that chip matched our dog. Luckily, our vet had gotten the name of the folks who had adopted him, so we knew a name and an area code. After a Google search, we came up with their number and called them. After talking with them, it's turns out that it IS Bear!

Here's where it gets strange...These folks had decided to adopt a hurricane dog and went to PetsMart in Huntersville, NC. They were told that this particular dog had been rescued after having been floating in the water for 48 hours. He was flea infested and had chewed his rear end hair off from the infestation, but was otherwise in good shape. According to these folks, someone from an animal rescue organization in Spartanburg, SC had gone down to the Gulf Coast to pick up dogs and brought them back with half of them put up for adoption in S'burg and the other half shipped up to NC.

I don't know whether I quite believe that Bear had been down in Nawlins, but one thing is for sure...this is definitely something good to come out of Katrina! Must be karma for my relief donations (albeit small ones) and I am headed up to Mooresville at 4:00 this afternoon to pick up a member of my family that has been missing for a year and a half. I was hardly able to get any sleep last night, and this day cannot pass fast enough for me now!

Anyway...we are FINALLY getting on the backside of this project, and I hope that I will be able to get back to helping the Lounge solve all of the world problems very soon. Just had to share with you guys. I've told this story about 40 times today already, and even had a call from the local paper. I'll post a pic ASAP!
