Mackensie Alexander makes his NFL decision |
Clemson redshirt sophomore defensive back
Mackensie Alexander will declare for the NFL draft according to his Instagram account on Wednesday.
He also confirmed to The News-Press that he was entering the 2016 NFL Draft. “It was a tough decision, very difficult,” Alexander said. “I enjoyed my college experience. It was fun and something I’ve been really enjoying, competing with my friend, my brothers. You grow a bond in college. This was definitely something I’ve been enjoying. We’ve had great coaching. I talked to my parents. I’ve had a great career and I want to keep getting better and chase greatness. I feel I did everything I could in college. I made a bunch of plays to help my team.” The Tigers with Alexander were the number two defense in the country in passes completed holding opponents to 47.6 completion percentage. In 638 snaps this season, QBs completed 11 passes vs. Alexander. Alexander had two tackles before leaving in the second quarter of the National Championship game against Alabama with a left hamstring injury. The shutdown corner interestingly never had an interception at Clemson but broke up 11 passes. ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay has Alexander as the No. 27 overall prospect for the upcoming NFL draft. He will sign with agent Trey Robinson based out of Charleston, S.C. Tough night for injured star Mackensie Alexander. Limped back onto the field to congratulate Bama anyway. #Respect pic.twitter.com/urvU6civpM
