Is Clemson in the 2017 College Football Playoff regardless of the outcome of the ACC Championship?
ESPN's Heather Dinich said during SportsCenter on Friday morning that she would be shocked if Clemson made the cut with a loss to Miami on Saturday night. "If they win, they are definitely in that much is simple. If they lose, people need to understand that a two-loss ACC team runner-up is a longshot," Dinich said. "Those within the selection committee meeting rooms, certainly would not close the door on the Clemson Tigers but I would be shocked if they were in with a two-loss runner-up." Dinich understands why people believe that Clemson still has a shot with another loss because of their impressive stockpile of wins this season. "The reason they still stand a case would be because of their resume which currently includes seven wins against teams with winning records," Dinich said. "In five of those games, have come against opponents with at least eight wins. Clearly they have impressed the selection committee but they would need help. When you have looked at what has happened to the top No. 1 teams that have lost, Alabama and Georgia, they both have fallen out of the committee's top four and I would expect the same to happen to Clemson." No. 1 ranked Clemson will face-off against No. 7 ranked Miami in the 2017 ACC Championship game on Saturday night at 8 PM on ABC.
