ESPN's Football Power Index after week 9 of the college football season. According to the projections, the Tigers have a 47.6 percent chance of winning out, 65.3 percent odds of winning the ACC, and have a remaining strength of schedule of 46 out of the 130 schools.
ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance for a season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is, and projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. The Top 10 in the index were Alabama, OSU, Penn State, Washington, Notre Dame, Georgia, Clemson, Auburn, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. Other ACC schools in the Top 30 included No. 13 Miami, No. 15 Virginia Tech, No. 18 North Carolina State, No. 24 Florida State, No. 25 Georgia Tech, No. 27 Louisville, and No. 29 Wake Forest.
