Clemson WR leaves program |
Clemson redshirt freshman walk-on receiver Jayson Hopper has decided to quit football according to his Instagram account on Monday.
"I know this may be tough to comprehend at this particular moment but I have decided to walk away from the game of football and Clemson University," Hopper posted. "There are several reasons behind this but the most important is that the Lord Jesus has pulled me away from this sport by exchanging a lot of desires from my past with new ones that I have led to go and follow." Hopper took a preferred walk-on role at Clemson out of Lexington high school even though he had full scholarship offers from App State, Charleston Southern, and PC. In 2017, he had one catch for four yards. The Clemson Football team have already announced that receivers Ray Ray McCloud III and Deon Cain are going pro so Hopper leaving is not great news for the depth of 'WRU'. However, this is a deep and talented group that can withstand some attrition each year.
