Deshaun Watson receives his Manning Award |
Former Clemson standout Deshaun Watson accepted his 2016 Manning Award trophy in New Orleans on Thursday night. The award is given to the top quarterback in the nation annually, and this is the second year in a row that Watson has received the prestigious award and the first time in history that a player has won the award in back-to-back years.
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter were at the event to support their former signal-caller. “Over the years, we have seen so many tremendous performances in the postseason, and this year we saw Deshaun Watson turn in an amazing two-game playoff performance,” said Archie Manning. “When the Allstate Sugar Bowl created the Manning Award in 2004, one of the key components was to recognize achievements throughout the entire year, including bowls, and now the playoff. This year is a prime example of why we do that.” Deshaun Watson receiving the Manning Award tonight. #ALLIN pic.twitter.com/mVnVEMt52E Archie Manning presenting the Manning Award to former Clemson QB Deshaun Watson pic.twitter.com/0ncKZdg1SQ .@DeshaunWatson4 getting grilled by Archie Manning at the #ManningAward ceremony.
