Kirby Smart will make $1.35 million next season which will make him the highest paid assistant coach in college football, replacing Clemson offensive coordinator

Chad Morris Barring changes to the contracts of other assistant coaches around the nation, that will the greatest amount a public school is paying to a football assistant for the 2014 season. Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris, LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis and LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron each are set to make $1.3 million this season. Morris does have provisions in his contract where he could see a pay increase. Each year of the deal that Clemson ranks in the top five of total offense, Morris' salary increases to the average of the two highest paid offensive coordinators. Also, with a top 10 total offense Morris would earn the average of the top three offensive coordinators.

. Morris is currently in the middle of a six-year contract that pays him $1.3 million a year till the year 2017.
Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart received a one-year extension through Feb. 2017, with no change to a salary that already was set to increase to $1.35 million from $1.15 million.
