Ellington has successful hernia surgery

was placed on the season-ending injured reserve list with a sports hernia on Sunday. He flew to Philadelphia on Monday to have surgery today on a hernia injury.

He tweeted after his procedure: "Surgery went well. Thanks for your support and prayers."

Ellington also had to deal with a torn tendon in his left foot and a hip flexor issue during the NFL season.

For the season, Ellington still ran for a respectable 660 yards and three touchdowns. He also showed his all around game with 395 yards catching out of the backfield and two touchdowns.

The Cardinals are left with three running backs on the roster - Stephfan Taylor, Marion Grice and Kerwynn Williams.
