Petitions started for College Gameday to pick WMU-CMU over Clemson-UL |
#5 Clemson and #3 Louisville both improved to 3-0 on the season last Saturday as Clemson knocked off South Carolina St. 59-0 and Louisville destroyed No. 2 Florida St. 63-20. Clemson plays at Georgia Tech on Thursday night, while Marshall hosts Louisville on Saturday.
If both teams win, the Louisville at Clemson game on Oct. 1st in Death Valley at 8 pm EST could be between two top five teams with Atlantic Division title and College Football Playoff implications. However, the Detroit Free Press posted a story on Tuesday that ESPN College GameDay should contemplate picking a non-traditional matchup in a Mid-American Conference showdown between Central Michigan (4-0) and Western Michigan (4-0) at Kelly-Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant, MI.
There are even two different petitions going around on Change.com urging ESPN to pick the MAC game instead of Clemson-Louisville and other higher profile matchups. One petition has nearly 4,000 supporters while the other one has almost 1,300 votes.
ESPN GameDay producer Lee Fitting tweeted out to the GameDay hosts late Saturday that the crew could get a table at the Smoking Pig (in Pendleton, SC) on Friday night [before Clemson-Louisville].
How does a table for 8 at the Smokin Pig sound around 7p on Friday 9/30? @KirkHerbstreit @ESPN_ReceDavis @chrisfallica @CollegeGameDay
