Clemson men's basketball lands ACC transfer Jaeden Zackery

Clemson men's basketball landed its second transfer portal addition this month. This time from the ACC.

Rising senior guard Jaeden Zackery (6-2 220) is going from Boston College to Clemson after three seasons with the Eagles. He picked the Tigers over Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Oklahoma in his final four in a live announcement Sunday (video attached below).

Zackery averaged 11.3 points and 4.2 assists last season, hitting 40.5% from beyond the arc and 82.4% of free throws.

One of his best efforts came versus Clemson in the ACC Tournament, where BC knocked off the Tigers behind 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists from Zackery. He knocked down 4-of-5 from three. He also scored 18 on 8-of-12 shooting in the regular season meeting between the teams in Littlejohn.

Zackery told Field of 68 on Sunday that Joseph Girard III's success as a transfer was important to his decision. He added that it's the best opportunity for him to improve his future basketball career and credited his relationship with the coaches and players. He says playing next to a player like Chase Hunter was a draw for him as well. Hunter has entered his name in the NBA draft, but he has maintained his eligibility and can come back.

Zackery tallied 1,101 points over three seasons in Chestnut Hill, averaging double-figures per game each campaign. He also played one season with Chipola College and averaged 12.5 points there.

He joins former Cincinnati center Viktor Lakhin among Clemson transfer portal additions this month.

This is a second consecutive season that the Tigers have essentially swapped transfers with an ACC team, as former Clemson guard Josh Beadle is headed to BC's program. Last year, Clemson gained an NC State transfer (Jack Clark) and the Wolfpack gained one from the Tigers (Ben Middlebrooks). Clemson also had a grad transfer from BC two seasons ago with Brevin Galloway.
