I would agree with you. The kid needs to grow up as well as be accountable for what he did.

If there is a coach that can help an undisciplined player see the need to make the required corrections to his lifestyle, his nickname is Dabo. If the kid is redeemable, then I think Dabo will pursue him.

Re: 2 OL from UGA Entered Portal - Say no to Clay Webb

So how well has our star 'Mr. Cool the driver fool' been at CB for us? Highly regarded HS player but under-performer as College player. This is yet another indicator between 'dubious' character and under-achieving player.
HOWEVER, since the '(almost) killer-driver' signed with us out of HS, then Dabo has more responsibility to turn him around.
As for Clay Webb, he didn't choose us out of HS, and therefore Clemson (which isn't some reform school for other school's Dumb Shizz players) has no need for this type of person.
Just say NO to Clay Webb.

Did you watch any Clemson football last season? Or even 2020? The spring game? Nah we don’t need ANY help on the OL. You are one the more annoying posters I read on here. Maybe the staff can adjust whatever it is that bothers YOU about him?

Being sued for that? Sounds more like a practical joke. Surely Webb didn't hold the other guy down or anything, right? Not saying it was right, but suing seems like an overreaction.

I'm convinced that Dabo is the King of Utopia

For all his on field football savvy, he seems to be really missing the big picture with Portal & NIL situations IMO. He comes across that no matter how much sunshine he pumps to the fans, that "everything will work out" in the long run. At some point, his pride & stubbornness is going to bite him in the butt. Flame away, but I really feel that the Tigers are going to get passed by others willing to change with the current dynamics that we've been dealt with lately.

The Tigers “got passed” for over 20 years prior to Dabo

Hatfield, West, Bowden ... those were some barren years for Clemson football.
We may get passed again, but I’m willing to let Dabo Run the operation the way he sees fit.
If Dabo can’t do it, then just maybe the Clemson job really isn’t that great in the first place. Maybe Dabo made it seem like a great job.
Everything all the fans who have jumped on board the past decade have to be proud of, they owe to Dabo Swinney.

DueWestDabo stirred the drink and has made so many right decisions with a lot of help and good judgement, but don't underestimate the love and support of Clemson alum, boosters, fans and community.

what I said.
Dabo has definitely been “The Straw” that has stirred the drink. It’s now Red Bull when once not all that long ago, it was weak, unsweetened ice tea.
I’m not really sure how fans can see fit to continually question his judgement when we know where we were before he was hired.
Maybe 2-3 years down the road, we look back and say, yep, Dabo had a great run but he blew it when he didn’t adapt his philosophy to fit the expectations of others.
Unfortunately, if and when that happens chances are Clemson will be back to mediocrity again.
I’m banking on it not happening because I believe Dabo knows what he’s doing.

Alumni, boosters, fans, etc were in place for most of those barren years. Early on in Dabo's tenure, there were a lot of people against him, and more "on the fence". I was one of the latter. Dabo had a clear vision of what he wanted his program to look like. And make no mistakes, win or lose, it was going to be HIS program. He went through some ups and downs, and could easily have been fired after 2010, to appease a growing portion of the fanbase who thought his hire was a mistake to begin with.
Butt, he was given more time by TDP, and that decision was the best one ever made by a Clemson AD. And yet, now that Dabo has implemented his vision, brought two Nattys home, made the playoffs six straight years, after one down year (which was STILL better than anything Tommy Bowden ever did), all of a sudden the armchair quarterbacks want to tell him how he should be doing things. Oh, Ye of Little Faith.

I think you are looking at the situation through tainted lens. NIL: Are you not aware of the entire NIL complex that is currently under construction? Portal: Do you not understand Dabo’s strategy of being happy with the people they recruited? Bringing in 4 or 5 portal players sends the second and third string players the message that they aren’t valued or good enough. Additionally, even in ESPN’s recent interview, he said circumstances will sometimes require it (and he gave the example of the Tigers looking at the portal for a couple of Olineman). I think this is wise: Use the portal when the circumstance dictates it, but not as the primary method for filling scholarships.

What has Webb done in three seasons at UGA to make anyone think he can help us? He's most likely a 5* bust.
