Are you seriously impressed with Lamar's 'videogame' #'s?
Dec 9, 2016, 11:21 AM

Because as soon as he turned off Rookie mode and and upped the difficulty level to 'Heisman/All madden' mode those numbers dropped. Deshaun was started playing at the highest level on Day 1 against Auburn while Lamar was was playing patty cake with a team that just revived its football program after 100 years of absence.

I'm impressed. DW wasn't playing at the highest level at the beginning of the season dude, we beat Troy by 6 points lol.... He's playing at his highest now however. LJ peaked at the beginning and suddenly started falling off towards the end.

Troy finished the year 79th in Sagarin ratings vs a massive 157 for Charlotte and 159 for Marshall. I am sure if we played them Watsons numbers would be better as well.

We had Troy and Sc State. DW could've put up video game numbers on both teams, but struggled vs Troy and was took out the game before half vs State.

Did you not see the rankings for those teams compared to Troy?
Comparing Troy to Marshall or Charlotte is flat out a joke.
SC State yes they were bad.... Difference is DW4 didnt play in the second half against SC State hell he didnt play much in the 2nd quarter.
After the 5:00 mark of the FIRST QUARTER against SC State Watson came in for ONE more series. Stop trying to compare those games.

Take out the second half of those games and his stats are still amazing. Go on with this bs. You can not like Lamar all you want but do not act like his stats are good because of playing bad teams when against great teams he puts up just as many yards.

Do you not think Watsons stats would be better to compare to his if he had played two TERRIBLE teams like that or if he had played beyond the 1st quarter against SC State?

Wow... I guess if you said it that makes it true. Here I am actually using facts and stats. How dare I think the 79th best team in the country would be better than teh 157th or 159th.

Pitt is ranked 30th per Sagarin an difference in ranking of 28 vs a difference in ranking of 80ish is not even close to comparable.
Fact is Charlotte and Marshall are closer to SC State at 202 than they are to Troy.
If you want to have a factual conversation that is fine but stop with the BS just so you can defend your boy.
I have posted nothing but stats and facts above and you pull out conjecture stating that the 160th best teams are as good as the 80th best teams.

No. Have you watched enough Marshall and Charlotte games to base your assumption?
You go into every game ready to play. No matter if they're 0-12 or 12-0. Never be complacent, Dabo will tell you that.
That's probably how we loss to Pitt. Senior day, clinching the Atlantic, beautiful Saturday afternoon in the valley. Everyone thought it was gonna be a easy win... Nope!

Yes upsets happen but a seasons worth of evidence says that one team is a lot better than the other and you are arguing PURE conjecture in a sad attempt to prop up one player that doesnt play for Clemson while disparaging one that does play for Clemson.
Fact of the matter is you are trying to compare a team with a top 50 defense "Troy" to a team that gave up 60+ points to WKU to end the season.
Fact of the matter is Watson played less than 1 quarter against the CLOSEST team to compare to Marshall and Charlotte. If he plays nearly a full game like Jackson did against Marshall or a full half like he did against Charlotte then Watson would also have better numbers.

No a realist is able to look at rankings and say that on most days one team would be much better than another.
A realist doesnt look at rankings of 79 and 157/159 and say on yea those teams are equal.

I honestly have no idea what point you are trying to make.
Through a whole season of evidence, teams are ranked statistically based on their performance.
When discussing how a player (or team) performed against that team it makes perfect sense to look at how that team performed through the whole season.
OF COURSE, upsets happen. OF COURSE on any given saturday, blah blah blah.
But what does that have to do, at all, with the discussion at hand?

What point does it serve to point out that 1 team *could* beat another? I mean, that's, frankly, a given in all games.
You equated Troy with those other teams by comparing our performance against Troy with Lou's performance against them. Then someone brought up the relative performance of each team through the season, and your rebuttal was that they "could" beat Troy? That's possible, of course, but serves no purpose in a discussion of relative team strengths.

They said had DW played against Charlotte and Marshall he would have better numbers then LJ, and would've won the Heisman. I went on to say DW had 2 cupcakes he could've put up video game #s against. He struggled with Troy and was TOOKEN out before half time vs State...
Bascailly they're saying LJ played two super weak teams that's how he got those #s. DW had 2 weak teams as well and he didn't put up the same #s....

and its undeniable - he has extreme talent and is THE ONLY REASON that cards won the games they did. they are a good team and would probably could win the sec east without him. they could have beaten uk but screwed up at the end - like us against pitt. houston rolled them but that was going to happen. you could see that game coming from a mile away. but to rip the kid, and i'm not saying you did (others do), is flat out stupid. he has enormous talent and earned every accolade

He has had a great year but he played a weak schedule and had a coach that would not take him out of blow outs until late in games. I am sorry if I am not impressed by him running up stupid numbers against Charlotte.
He is the reason they won a bunch of games but he is also a primary reason they lost to UK.

Fact: Jackson has led the Cardinals to victory over ONE Power 5 team in 2016 season. That's ONE as in 1!!! Most of his stats were amasses against in fervor teams and playing darn near the en tire game. Pls don't exaggerate his minimal accomplishments when degree of difficulty is factored in. Her's a fine runner, an adequate passer but his leadership skills are very questionable as are his temperament, poise and ability to game manage.

I assume you meant 1 Power 5 team with a winning record.

Which teams do you consider "in fervor" teams?

Also, your "Fact" post doesn't seem very factual, but maybe I'm being a little nit picky here?

No reason for a false dichotomy. Lamar Jackson had an

amazing year.
Deshaun had a great year too.
Lamar dropped off toward the end, and Deshaun has an INT problem. Both are elite QB's.

I think Lamarville is an enormous talent...

but I wouldn't even remotely consider trading him for Watson.
To me, Watson epitomizes everything the Heisman is supposed to represent.

not going make any excuses here as Clemson should have really beat the brakes off of Troy and NC State etc. Louisville played cupcakes basically most of the year except FSU and even when the game was well in control Jackson was still in padding his numbers. Watson on the other hand was taken out when the game was won to avoid injury and give others experience. Not going to say Jackson isn't a good QB cause he is but his numbers are misleading. I think David Pollock put it best when he asked Finebum "you are down by 6 end of the game which QB do you want playing for you?" Answer of course was Watson

Two of Louisville wins were against teams ranked as follows...
Marshall - 159
Charlotte - 157
He played into the 4th quarter against Marshall.

And he also had really good numbers in "Heisman/All Madden" mode, too. This stuff about him not playing well against good teams is totally false. I don't know why people don't just look up the stats for those games.

So playing CLEMSON is rookie mode? He had 450 yards on us. Guess the 8th ranked D in the nation is easy.

No but are you disputing that he played two of the worst teams in FBS in Marshall and Charlotte? One of those he played well into the 4th quarter. The other he played until half time.
The only comparable case for Watson was SC State in which he played ONE series after the 5 min mark in the FIRST quarter.

If you take out the Marshall and Charlotte games his stats are still the best in the nation so what point are you trying to make???

Full ride on XM yesterday broke it down by who faced defense
Dec 9, 2016, 11:54 AM

Watson faced 8 (top 50) defenses (lost 1 non top 50 defense) but beat 8 top 50 defenses.
Jackson faced 6 (top 50) defenses (lost 3 games to 2 Top 50's and 1 non top 50 defense) beat 4.
Oklahoma 2 (played 2 top 50's) lost both times Washington 2 ( played 2 went 1-1)
Gotta be a factor...right?

#'s not so much, his performance against CU -YES

Clemson is what helped seal the Heisman deal for LJ.
UL lost but he had the entire UL team on his back and almost single handedly beat Clemson. We were gased and if not for a couple of key false starts near the end due to the fans - then they would have won.
At that time of the year, had it been on a neutral site, I am of the ever so humble opinion that UL would have likely won.
That being said, the loss took something away from LJ and UL's spirit. If we played against them now at any location, I think we would handle business. Buy would be close again as all our games are against decent teams.

eliminate the turnovers and keep the defense off the field so much, and Clemson wins by three TD's.

Honestly, he has had a few "Wow" plays and the rest are standard spread offense, his 40 time at the QB position and the competition U of L has played.
