Super judge cleared the courthouse had lunch and called the jury with no mention. I nominate him for the Supreme Court.

I’ve never understood the whole bomb threat. I mean if you are going to blow the place up why tell anyone.

It's all about getting notoriety and getting attention.

Been watching a documentary on psychopaths and why they do what they do ... the vast majority of them do it as a display of power over the situation and gaining attention for themselves (getting their name recognition).

#### looks rough.
It’s rumored that Alex during his rocking sessions in court has been softly humming “There’s an old man sitting next to me making love to his tonic and gin.”
The lunch breaks must be epic.

That’s interesting re: Clemson. His wife is the US Ambassador to Slovenia, Melania Trump’s birthplace.
He was very easy to dislike when he was the SC Democratic Party chairman unlike Joe Erwin and Don Fowler.
He was sort of an SC Democrat version of Trump with his bombastic comments. I seem to remember him comparing Nikki Haley to Eva Braun. Dic* stepped on his own more than once with his no holds barred comments.

I looked up some of the key players the other day.
Harpootlian did indeed go to Clemson, and decided on law school in an attempt to avoid the Vietnam draft. He was drafted anyway but failed the physical. He was the prosecutor who took down former SCar president Holderman for financial misconduct.
Griffin, the other defense attorney was a Wake grad who went to law school after he hadn't had much luck finding employment.
Judge Newman grew up in SC, went to law school in Cleveland and had his own practice there. He moved back to SC in the 1980's so his kids would not be "pawns" in court-ordered busing when Ohio integrated their schools. He presided over the case of the fake Uber driver who killed the USC girl.
Harpootlian as a legislator has been involved in a move to clean up Five Points after the Uber killing by denying liquor licenses to any business with more revenue from alcohol than food. "This should not be 2,000 kids drunk throwing up at 2 o’clock in the morning on that street right there,” Harpootlian said." He could've phrased that better but got his point across.

The USC student killed in 5 points. Did not make the connection that he was the same judge but it makes sense. He’s awesome.

What’s everyone’s take on this deal? Did he do it?
On another note how much will SC lose in this deal? Figure he was a big contributor…even though it was with other peoples money.

I’m pretty sure he’s guilty. All of his financial crimes were about to come to light because of his wife looking to file for a divorce and his son’s pending litigation for the boat accident. It’s kind of like OJ. If he didn’t do it. Who did?

I agree but it only takes one on the jury.

I’ve been convinced that he did it but you’re right it only takes one. If he’s found not guilty I believe it’s because the state didn’t prove its case and NOT because the jurors actually think he didn’t do it. I’ve always thought either he did it or hired someone to do it. He’s a total sleazebag. The defense attorney panelists on court tv keep saying his financial crimes are not a motive to kill. I watch a lot of crime shows and have seen many murders with a lot less of a reason than he had. It does happen.

Beyond infidelity, I think finances in some form would be the biggest motive for murder

I don't think there is a question he did it...

But it has to be proven without a doubt. That is the question.

Burden of proof in a criminal murder case is beyond a REASONABLE doubt

You can still have doubts
Absent a bombshell from the defense I don’t see how any reasonable person could look at the evidence and say that Alex Murdaugh didn’t kill or hire someone to help him kill his wife and child.
That cellphone and car data are pretty damning. He was there at those kennels at the time of the murder.
The interesting thing is that he’s going to have to take the stand and tell the jury what happened and why he lied about where he was if he wants to have a fighting chance.
The truth is he will die in jail regardless because of all the other crimes.

I’ve wondered about his relationship to SC athletics

I’ve seen it said he had courtside tickets and went to Omaha but nothing else much about his relationship to them. His finances were a mess and even though he made several million a year often, he was making less and less as time went on and he lost his legal advantages in his county.
Best I can figure, he was probably using law firm tickets for the most part. Could be wrong though, I know he talked about the USC-A&M score last year when they lost by like 30 on a prison call with Buster so he definitely still keeps up with it.

have confiscated his passport. Because, if there EVER was a "flight risk" to avoid prosecution, he would be a prime candidate to do it.
