schedule makes no sense to me. In our pool, Miami is the lowest ranked team at #11,Louisville #7,and Clemson #2. Yet, Miami plays today, gets a two day rest and plays us,and Louisville plays today and gets a 3 day rest before playing us...But we play Miami on Thursday and Louisville of Friday....That makes ZERO sense to me.

The good news ... if Miami beat Louisville today,

all we have to do is beat Miami Thursday to advance. Our game against Louisville will be irrelevant. (Bad news, Miami has started their 2nd best pitcher - ERA-wise - today and saving their ace for us.)
But, if Louisville does win, then we have to beat them Friday to advance.

From the other angle...we get an extra 2 days of rest before we play at all. It's not a big deal to play games on back to back days. At the max, we'd play 4 games in 4 days, not much different than typical regular season weekends.

It matters to pitching Arm rest within a tournament seems more important than rest leading up to a tournament

A normal week is Tuesday (sometimes Wednesday) then Friday - Sunday. I'm not so sure I wouldn't have chosen Tuesday for the first game to keep the same schedule. Clemson and UNC had a schedule choice as division champions.

Duh, speaking of not being a rocket scientist, the Tigers 1st game is Thursday, not Friday.

Top 2 seeds got to pick when they wanted to start play. By waiting to start on

Thursday, our pitchers get their normal rest between starts, just like a weekend series.

Supposedly the higher seeded teams get schedule preference...

If that is true, then maybe Bakich wanted the later games. More rest between games gives you a fresher bullpen, but later games gives you the advantage of knowing which game matters more and maybe you don't even pitch certain arms to begin with.

The ACC implemented this unbelievably stupid pool play format...

several years ago. The basis for the decision, as I understand, was because one particular coach complained about the customary double-elimination format that pretty much every other league has and continues to use.

Clemson was one of the schools that requested pool play.
Double elimination, if you advanced, chewed up pitching and then the NCAA tournament started with pitchers not getting their normal days of rest.
Basically the top teams (Clemson/Miami/FSU/Ga tech at the time) wanted to focus on the NCAA tournament and didn't care about the ACC tournament at all.

Our team chose this option and here you are saying we should use it as an excuse to leave the conference? Make some sense man.

Sounds like they are trying to give the lower seeds any type of competitive advantage they can.

The ACC office got confused and thought that both Miami and Louisville were located in North Carolina .......... either that or they remembered that Clemson is located in South Carolina!
