Can absolutely see DJ

Lighting the country on fire next year, there’s been so much pressure here it’s going to do wonders for him to have a fresh start and be able to refocus. Honestly hope he works his way into a nice draft slot.

Doubtful. Good kid but a complete headcase.

He isn't D1 material. Period. I hope he does well wherever he ends up, but I would bet that it is more of the same, honestly.

Probably would’ve said the same thing if it weren’t for Bo Nix who was absolutely dreadful at Auburn tearing it up at Oregon this year. Not saying DJ didn’t do a lot of things to himself but never thought the offense fit his style of play that’s just my opinion but I do think he can play at a high level in the right system.

System or not you still have to complete "layups"

and he couldn't do that consistently (first pass in ACCCG is prime example).
I'm not hating on him as a person, but he is just not a good college football player.

Trent Dilfer (New UAB coach) claims to be a guru and is real critical of Coach Brandon Streeter QB coaching skills. So lets see what he can do with DJ! If he turns him around then maybe he was on to something, I personally thinks he is full of Crapola!

I'm sorry...but if you struggle with confidence in college, I don't think the NFL is a soft landing spot.
I like DJ as a young man. He may make a fine coach or businessman. But the NFL is a ruthless arena. You can drop a pass or punt on Sunday and be looking for a job on Monday. You don't get 1-2 years to figure it out.

I don't see it. His lack of confidence is due in large part to his knowledge of his limitations.
What successful program lacks expectations for the QB position?

Not saying he doesn’t have a difficult road ahead of him, just saying I know there’s a TON of pressure that was lifted off of his shoulders. He’s been through a brutal couple of years.

Agree with that 100%, it’s completely up to him now if they see the same problems arise the book is going to close

Not quite that simple

Sure, there is a ton of pressure being lifted because he's leaving a program with very high expectations. However, there will be no relief whatsoever if he joins a program with similar expectations. DJ strikes me as mentally fragile for a Power 5 starting QB. Wherever he ends up, if he begins to struggle, all of the pressure (and memories) will jump right back on his shoulders and the same narrative about his weaknesses returns in full force.
IMO, the only way he can reduce pressure on himself is to go where expectations and/or competition is lower.

If DJ flourishes next year.... is that a reflection on our QB Coach?

I think it would be a reflection of not playing to your players strengths

But as stated earlier, I don’t know how you can open things up if worrying about his confidence is always in the back of your mind

If DJ can still throw a baseball 95 mph, appears he may have a better shot with MLB. That's assuming he had solid control and also ability with off speed pitches in high school. Don't recall hearing how successful he was then. Do wish him success with whatever he chooses.

I think we all agree most of DJ's issues are mental. He is not a confident QB. He is not accurate nor does he seem to know how to take much off the ball on his short throws.
I don't care if he can throw a baseball 100 mph. The strike zone is smaller than the window on football throws and the ability to take something off a pitch and accurately move the baseball up and down and in and out many more times than a QB throws in a game would seem the last place for DJ to be successful.
I truly wish him well and hope getting closer to family with a new start will allow him to be all he can be, whatever that is.

I'm sorry man, but the ability to read defenses and make quick decisions is essential to good QB play.
