Can some of you please stop calling it the "play-in game?"

We are in the NCAA Tournament. Not the NIT, and not sitting on our butts at home. We deserve to be in, and Tuesday's game counts. When we win, that's an NCAA Tournament win.
It's pathetic to see some Clemson fans discredit our team. A few months ago, most of us didn't even think we would be close to an NCAA Tournament team, much less making it. Heck, I saw a few posts here in December saying we wouldn't even make the NIT. Yet here we are.
How about giving our coaches and players credit for a great season? Be excited. This is an honor, and it's supposed to be fun.

Not exactly. In the ACC tournament the first 4 of 12 teams draw a bye. In the NCAA tournament the first 60 of 68 teams draw a bye. Strangest tournament format ever.

It is one of the games you have to win to make it to the field of 64. Frankly, I'm more upset that we have to be in one of these games. I thought we would be a 10 or 11 seed.
I am very proud of what Coach Brownell, his staff and the players have done. I didn't expect us to be in this kind of position at the beginning of the year, but they team kept improving and the coaches have done a super job. We just need to keep playing as well as we have been and the team will be ok. This has been a super year for Clemson Basketball.

However, the people on here who think that our accomplishment as it stands,is somehow less than it would have been had we received a #13-#15 seed amaze me.

I'm glad we're playing in for a 12 seed instead of a 16 seed. But this is a stupid tournament set up. We are officially playing in the 1st round. There are 68 teams in the tournament, and 60 of the teams draw a first round bye. Only the NCAA could come up with a format like that.

If you're playing a team that NOBODY thought would get in the tourney in what's called the 1st four, you are most definitely in a "play in game"

I believe this team accomplished a great deal. They believed in themselves, their coaches, and got better every game. I thought they deserved better than what they got, but they may just be out to prove to everybody that they are a good basketball team.

If the gamecocks were in this position and won, would you consider it a "NCAA tourney win?" I think not.

name. Winner gets into the field of 64. I really don't see what's so hard about this.
It's not round one. If we win two games, we're not in the sweet 16, we're in round 2. Round one is the winner of our game vs. WVU.
This is a play in game, for a 12 seed.

calls it. I don't say it like its a bad thing cause I would rather 'play in,' a game against a UAB in the first round that play the one, two, three or four seed in the first round. It is a good place to be for that reason, imo.
It gives the younger players a chance to get their feet wet

Is it really that important to call out our players for calling this game what it is? Stitt is putting in the hours every day and you call him out for calling it a play-in game? I think you are grossly misinterpreting him if you think his assessment of the snub discredits the team. By calling it a play-in game, he is saying the team deserves better. But whatever, keep throwing our players under the bus like always.

So - Clemson is going to be the first NCAA tourney winner that was in the 'new' play-in-game? Wow - so the committee thinks we're good enough to win 1 more game than all the other contestants (well - 64 of 'em)?

I don't count it as a tournament game. To win the tournament, we would have to play one more game than everyone else...hence, PLAY IN game.
