College football has become a total embarrassment. Anyone who is involved

with the ruination of the game at this point (coaches, players, ADs, college presidents, BOTs, NCAA) should hang their heads in shame and alarm for letting it get to this point. It would be nice for somebody with an ounce of integrity to grow a set and do something about it instead of allowing it to continue as long as they are stuffing their pockets.
Tonight's Orange Bowl tells us all we need to know.

Everyone knew that Georgia would blowout FSU, but part of the issue is FSU just does not care.

This is not really College football anymore...most of these are not college students...schools have to make up programs of `study` and call them majors...every school does it...college presidents can't crow about academic success and how many doctors or engineers they produce but who they beat in football...now that's bignews...the academic success tool is a joke...what are these kids studying...how many in business, engineering, agriculture...NCAA is a bad joke!...The greatness of a school is measured in its classrooms not on the football field!

Are you talking about the FSU game? At least now we won't have to listen to why they should be in the playoffs. Of course now UGA will start.

don't know what will. The problem is the power brokers of the sport have proven so greedy, so shameless, that I don't know.

What specific changes do you recommend which would have kept FSU from being embarrassed tonight or TCU last year?

C’mon guys. Next year there will be more teams in Natty quest and that will mitigate a lot in f this. If Florida State had gotten in under the new system, they would have quickly found out how good they were.

at the table, as it should be. Now we just need to deter players from opting out of post season games.

The problem isn't that a team is getting blown out, even though it's a sympton of the problem.
We need to have the best players playing in the bowl games. 23 opt outs makes it a farce from the get go. Now that that has become perfectly acceptable, college football has lost it's very soul, and the thing that makes it different from, and better than the NFL. The teams we see on the field tonight are not the teams that were selected.

Georgia didn't have an epidemic of opt outs. Neither dld Clemson. How is this a problem someone in an office should be expected to fix?

Agree they are from an antiquated era of college football, but if there’s no bowl games then the next stop is for mass opt outs in November once a team is out of contention. Probably see players leaving early with under the table NIL offers too. Submitting your name into the portal is just admin formality to be done a few weeks later when window opens. The only solution I can see is to for upperclassmen to sign contracts and freshman to be ineligible for transfer without sitting a year (which is how the portal should have been done in the first place).

The portal and NFL declarations should not be open until after

all bowls and playoff games are done. Players sit out one year if they transfer. Players need to understand that if they get a scholarship, they are expected to play in bowl and playoff games. Work with the NFL to establish some rules and guidelines for the good of the college game, which plays the important role of minor league for them.
Yes, the Clemson/KY game was a good one, due to minimal opt outs. And good for KIrby and his kids for having a culture that promotes some sense of loyalty and integrity.

I agree with you about the transfer portal. I agree in theory about explaining expectations to players but that seems a far cry from being able to force a kid to play in a bowl game. As for the NFL, they would likely have no incentive to try solve this problem.

I don't think we'll ever be able to force players to play, nor should we.

It's more about limiting incentives, and inspiring loyalty and pride, and communicating expectations effectively.

Limiting incentives is what got CFB into this mess. As far as inspiring loyalty and pride, if providing a kid otherwise not financially able or academically qualified an opportunity to earn a degree from a great school didn't do that, I don't know what will. People don't like it, but most of these kids aren't nearly as in love or loyal to our schools as we'd like to think.

Why do we have tens of thousands of posts about football but none about the demise of bioengineering...that's the problem...old men with fake testosterone reliving their youth with paid thugs who could not make 400 on an SAT!...At least Dabo tries to change this!

few of these players give a crap about college football, it's just a means to get them to the NFL.
Create a minor league and set it up so CFB is like Coll baseball.

Culprit, ESPN.
No longer any atmosphere, tradition, or excitement with these bowls that are all broadcast by ESPN. two NY6 bowls, one at noon and the other at 4 p.m., just to make sure the NFL game is not involved. They run one bowl over the other, no consideration for fans and time and day of bowls. They are like holiday basketball tournaments. Just made for tv events.
I'm proud of our team for fighting back in the Gator Bowl. A very proud moment. But look at what was a proud bowl game that was always a sell out in pre espn and always at night. There was not even the gator bowl emblem on the field and not even in the end zones, sad and lazy.
As for Portal, NIL, and the like, the leaders of college football have all failed us. Give players more, but don't let them completely ruin the sport. Have some balls and speak up for structure and limits. Conference commissioners, ADs, university presidents, NCAA, Congress, all of them are spineless. And the sport is going down the tubes.
