I'd like to see how he performs under a Chip Kelly offensive scheme...

If he doesn't get his footwork and eye's improved he won't be any better than here from a fundamental perspective. He is what he is and it's going to take alot of work to get himself unstuck and reach his potential. He has a very high upside.
DJ isn't DTR thats for sure...

Chip Kelly better have a plan to change the offense with DJ. He will not be a direct plug-in replacement for DTR that’s for certain.

I agree with you 100%. He just doesn’t seem to have the instincts, intuition, vision and decision making. Other than that he’s great.
I did meet him once in person, seemed like a great guy. Seems like all of his Clemson teammates said he’s a fabulous teammate.
Bottom line is he’s a great guy with a big arm, but doesn’t seem to have the instinct, intuition, vision and decision making, at this point in time.
I would love to see him develop these attributes and become a stud NFL QB.

A lot of vitriol towards this kid

Hope he tears it up wherever he lands just for the redemption story it'd be.
I'll certainly be rooting for him against anyone that isn't Clemson

No hatred for the young man but, if moving to the west coast enables him to throw a football to a receiver standing still on the sideline, without hitting the ground 5 yards in front of the receiver, then I will probably be convinced beyond any shadow of a doubt he sabotaged Clemson statistics to close out 2022.

Exactly LOL Just too mANy basic problems with DJ. They were good in the beginning of this year, so I thought he was over them. But they returned,. To me, it's mental. And how can you trust an athlete with mental problems.

I haven't seen Clemson folks spewing vitriol towards DJ.

He's loved by all as far as I can tell. Pointing out exhibited deficiencies is not the same as vitriol.

If "fit" was the problem at Clemson...

it will be at least as big a problem at UCLA under Chip Kelly.
Chip Kelly is one of the most misunderstood coaches ever. (That's another discussion).
One thing widely known is Kelly requires mobility and quickness in his QBs. DJ doesn't fit that mold at all.
Another thing is Kelly requires his QBs to hit scripted, short and medium range throws. This is yet another DJ weakness.
One area where they match well is Kelly usually doesn't require his QBs to do a lot of thinking and processing. It will look like the QB is reading the field but the throw has been predetermined. That should be right up DJ's alley. That said, strict discipline is required by both QB and receivers. DTR elevated his play this season to such an extent that he successfully improvised quite often. The previous two years his decision-making was absolutely horrendous.
I watched Chip Kelly's Oregon teams quite closely. These are my 2 cents on DJ going to UCLA.

Let’s suppose for a moment DJ lands a starting job somewhere, it could be anywhere, and he absolutely lights it up. He throws for 3,500 yards, 25 touchdowns and only four interceptions. What’s the college football world going to think about Dabo and Streator if somebody else can get DJ to perform like he was expected to come out of high school? I don’t see that happening, but it’s an interesting what if scenario.

DJ is DJ. Been painful to watch for two years. How is he going to be the starter of any major team when he should have never been ours.

For those who don't know Tedford very well, during his coaching career, his QBs have had success generating great stats. The level of competition in the Mountain West should give DJ a decent chance of throwing for a lot of TDs. He just needs to cut down the INTs.
If Tedford wants him, this is a slam dunk decision for DJ, IMO, and would probably be the best way to improve his draft status.
