ESPN has just about ruined College Football for me

I have noticed this year that they refuse to give our players their due when showing highlights, and I have often wondered why. Seeing Nuk and Boyd get left out of the finalists for those awards make me wonder where College football is going. The constant SEC bs from ESPN is skewing everything away from a even playing field (if there ever was an even playing field to begin with). I will always support Clemson, but I am about done with college sports, and especially college football that doesn't involve the Clemson Tigers. Push your product on someone else ESPN, because I am not going to gurgle it down anymore. I can't imagine Saturday afternoons in the fall without Clemson football... yet. If ESPN manages to finish destroying the ACC and any hope Clemson has of competing on a national scale, I may have a few extra hours on the weekends. Maybe I could learn to knit or something (threw that in there for those who will call me a nancy anyway) :P. How do we as the consumer change this pathetic chapter in ESPN Football.

USC team. Probably a better highlight package than usual, but it is going to be a Notre Dame lovefest Saturday. If our bowl game could pit us against one of the supposed real SEC teams, then we would maybe get our due.

Ours will be a high-scoring game, which means our highlights will be shown throughout the low-scoring Notre Dame game.
Saturday will be our opportunity to shine on the big stage.

We have an outstanding team. The teams we beat this year haven't had very good seasons, so the big splash coverage hasn't been there yet.
This will change Saturday.

Real SEC teams?

SCar is one, according to ESPiN, unless they lose to us? Florida is one, unless they lose to FSU. Georgia is one, unless they lose to GT. Alabama still is one because they lost to an SEC team. No matter what happens on the field the SEC will always be perceived as the greatest in the land. The only way we might could begin to crack that is if the ACC won all of these games. Unfortunately, that is not likely, and I am uncertain if even then it would be seen as anything other than a fluke.

was, yes, ESPN will crap all over the ACC sweeping wins over SEC opponents. They will find a way to make it seem not what it seems.

I was only pointing out that "real SEC teams" are impossible for an ACC team to beat, because once that happens they are not considered a "real SEC team".

I agree, beat the four SEC schools this weekend and the ACC will be talked about...Lose 3 out of 4 or 4 out of 4 and it will be same-o same-o for the ACC.

Oh come on, somebody had to do it
Look, ESPN isn't trying to destroy the ACC. They carry the ACC TV contract, so it would not be in their interest to do so. However, what ESPN has done is hyped another conference up to ridiculous levels. Some of the hype has been earned, and some hasn't.
The awards are complete BS. If Johnny Foosball was still in the B12, he doesn't get the same hype. But beating Bama at Bama on a national stage propelled him into super-stardom. Boyd and Nuk beating teams like Duke, Wake, BC, etc doesn't do anything for them.
You want evidence of how bad the ACC sucks, just look at the ACCCG. Tell me how GT deserves to be contending for a championship. They lost to freaking MTSU!
The ACC is continuously pushed down the ladder, because the teams in this conference are horrible. ESPN is certainly contributing to the gap, but that's only because ACC teams have not been holding up their end of the bargain.

This would be a different season if VT and GT lived up to their hype. If Miami wouldn't keep dropping games they should've won, and if they weren't on a bowl ban now.

I'll never understand why some of you are so determined to tie our fate to the ACC's. I wish I had confidence that those at the top had more sense, but everything suggests they do not.
I guess we better get good at basketball, because if we stay in the floundering ACC, the days of Clemson football being nationally relevant are coming to a close.

I would still have to attend Clemson sports. ESPN has destroyed College football. I honestly wish FOX, CBS, and NBC would get more involved. It kinda reminds me of a Walmart moving to town and making all the Mom and Pop stores go out of business. I hope we can hang on and get through this. We just need to keep winning and let our record speak for itself. Go TIGERS!

"What goes around, comes around!" Sooner rather than later, there is probably going to be a groundswell of anger across this land from a host of schools and fans against ESPN that will reverberate the likes of which the ESPN knotheads can not imagine...and there are bold hints that that groundswell has already begun.

The fact that even ESPN is saying on the air that another all-SEC championship game will NOT be popular is telling. I thinking they are hearing it from every direction.
ESPN's involvement in college football on a major level sure complicated things. I miss the days when we didn't worry much about conferences and TV.

I think you are COMPLETELY right and I don't know what the H3LL is taking the rest of the country that doesn't buy this SECheat crap to take a stand. I am not visiting the EsecPN website for anything. (I know it is not much, but that is all I can do from where I am)
Yahoo sports is what I use now, but I noticed that they aren't much better. Tajh had 8 TDs but there wasn't on the front page in the notes.....yet Lacy at Bamer runs for three vs Western Carolina and is mentioned.....
GO TIGERS!!!! Beat the #### out of the chickens!!!

lol, this is ridiculous. WIN ACC and we will be talked about. Play OCC schedules against the SEC, PAC12, BIG 10 and BIG 12. AND WIN THOSE GAMES! That's all it would take.

On it is a list of their overall goals.
It says:
1. To entertain our viewers and readers 2. To try to ruin Clemson University 3. To obtain industry-leading TV ratings
In that order. It's very shocking.

particular? I don't think they are out to get Clemson in particular, but I think they downplay every product that isn't the SEC hypefest making them money. The only reason they got the ACC deal was to keep someone else from getting it, period. They also wrapped up the third tier rights, keeping the ACC from forming an ACC Network and hyping their own product outside of the SECPN. You obviously enjoy having the SEC peen shoved down your throat, so to each his own I guess.

If the ACC will buckle up their chinstraps and kick some butt this weekend, we will expose the SEC for what we believe it is, a so-so top heavy conference. If we lose, we have no argument. Until we can beat them, they're better than us.

Re: ESPN has very little credibiity

ESPN is going to be their own downfall. They have been wrong so many times this year that they are becoming a joke to people who really know football. Early in the year they talked about how great USC was and that they would be the NC. USC has 4 losses.
Then it was Florida State had the best talent in the nation. Then they lost.
Next it was West Virginia and there wasn't anyone on their schedule that could beat them. They now have 4 losses. Then it was Alabama and there wasn't anyone that could beat them and they lost to a team with two losses.
Last week there was no chance of an SEC team being in the NC game.
This week they are saying that it could be two SEC teams again this year.
With that kind of reporting are you going to continue to respect their opinion? I don't think so and the rest of the fan base will catch on it will just take a while.

CFB on TV thanks in large part to ESPN. ESPN, ESPN2, ABC (essentially), ESPNU, and even Watch ESPN or whatever the heck they are calling it now.
I get that the SEC talk has gotten very annoying, but ESPN has done more to push college football than anyone. All they really need to do is can Jessie Palmer (the main proponent of the SEC worship) and i would be completely happy.

If the ACC played football like the SEC you wouldn't be posting this thread. Honestly, I would rather watch Vandy and UT play on TV than I would Duke and Wake, with 15K fans in the stands. Do you buy real ice cream or do you buy ice milk. Unfortunately, the ACC is a basketball conference, and always will be. If we want recognition on a national level in football, then we better make a change before 2014 because all of the "slots" will be full in the four major conferences by then. Just my opinion.
