I know he pained him to pick the Tigers. He has picked against us for years. 57% against the spread? How is this guy an "expert."

I don't really think he has an agenda, but I believe he has a distaste for Clemson and most anyone outside of the sec. But the same could be said about most of the X perts!!!

57% minus juice will not make you much, need to be just over 60% to be respectable. Not to mention his 80% could be won by simply picking favorite. Hardly an expert.

60% over the long-term is considered elite. Very few sharks hit at 60% ATS.

8.8% profit (i did the math in a post below) is nothing to sneeze at. And if he were betting seriously he wouldn't bet on all games and would likely stick to ones he felt were stronger plays.

Agreed. I'd take 57% and run with it every time.
I think I read that the break even point when betting the standard -110 was just over 53%.

Of course if you increase the juice, the win % will need to be higher on average. Most are -110 and 57% is money.

"They are at least as good as Clemson on offense with a bevy of talented wideouts, running back Joseph Yearby and quarterback Brad Kaaya (10-1 TD-INT ratio); they also have a talented defense."
Umm... note to Phil Steele - Clemson's offense is a well oiled, balanced machine that can run or pass depending on what we need to do. Miami's offense is a one trick pony (Kaaya passing) with an abysmal running game. IMO Miami's offense is not anywhere near as good as Clemson's.
Note 2 to Phil Steele - Miami's defense is middle of the pack (ranked lower/worse than GA Techs defense) and will get curb stomped by DW4, Artavis Scott, and Wayne "the train" Gallman this weekend. Clemson's defense, on the other hand, is top 10 and will have Kaaya running for his life this weekend.
I knew there was a reason I stopped buying Phil Steele's worthless pre-season football magazines...

They are talented on defense. They have recruited well, it just hasn't translated well to the field. I hope Saturday isn't the day they have a breakout game.

My dog could pick 57% ATS. I'm at 71% right now on the year. I went 12-4 last week. I guess I need my own magazine now, huh?

Well, at least he's pretty up there on picking the winner @ 83%...guess this means we win decently, with his 57% on the spread. ^_^ GO TIGERS!!

And their OL is suspect at best. We're going to get yards both through the air and running at them. They'll only hurt us through the air and with our secondary and DL it shouldn't be too bad. I don't think they break 20pts against us

Picking ATS is difficult. 57-43 is a good record
Oct 22, 2015, 2:44 PM
|
|
Let's just say he's making $110 bets and getting the standard -110 payout. He would win $100 57 times and lose $110 43 times for a margin of (5700-4730) = $970 on every 100 bets. With a total investment of $11000 that's an 8.8% return. Not too shabby...

"The Hurricanes gained confidence leading Florida State in the fourth quarter on the road two weeks ago."
So blowing a 4th quarter lead to your biggest Rival is a confidence boost? WTPH is this guy smoking?

I really really really really don't like this game.
Oct 22, 2015, 3:28 PM

Terrible away crowd, Clemson is on a roll, Miami is talented, Miami has a coach who is under immense pressure, law of averages says we are due to lose to an unranked team....
If Deshaun Watson has a better than average game and our defense figures out how to stop giving up random huge plays we walk away from this one easily. We win by over 20 points in that situation.
But Miami's athletes are probably better than anyone we have played so far this year. I don't think Notre Dame has as much raw talent as Miami. Teams like that, when they catch you at the right time, can easily destroy your season.
I really hope we give Miami our A-game and rise above this.
