but don't think the intent was to copy Clemson. For what purpose would they do that?
Im guessing it is related to the rock and wolves sculpture that sits outside the Murphy Center.

about Howard's Rock is that the rock is part of Clemson tradition and is not associated with a tiger at all. I don't know how to put it into words but to me, it is on its own...sort of like running down The Hill. Both represents our football tradition like the "War Eagle" at Auburn. Not many colleges can say that.

This group of coaches comes up with horrible one lines, motivational quotes and apparently steals ideas from other teams (i.e. this stone, thing).
This stone has been around a few months though, I have no idea why its being discussed now. I find it annoying, cliche and boring.

Always imitated, never duplicated

First Maryland got the turtle to rub, then BC got the eagle to rub, now NCSU's got a rock. Flattering that so many people think so highly of our tradition that they imitate it.

Don't they rub a wolf statue at the start of the game?

I think I remember them adding this several years ago. Seems like they have a case of Tiger envy.

Looks like NCSU had an extra $179.50 burning a hole in the AD's pocket. Wolfpackers should be greatly embarrassed.

I don't know what you guys are all worried about...it is a big, heavy, expensive, not very well framed motivational poster.
The only possible similarity to The Rock is the fact that is a rock...and clearly that is enough to confuse the dopes at the ACC.
Though, since it seems to be at the practice field, I think the closer comparison would be to the tombstones rather than The Rock.
Still not a good analogy, but about on par with the amount of sense that the league office normally shows.
My guess that this starts a grand tradition of having a very heavy park bench at their practice field.
