If that Sumbitch was in my neighborhood, he would end up in a chicken bog!!! I would be forced to buy an elite shooter scope for my 22 magnum rifle!!!

Turkeys get almost identical treatment...fascinating operation! Been there, done that, got the turkey blood stains on my tee shirt to prove it.

I am in the process of designing a chicken processing plant

right now. The lines go much faster than that in any plant that I have seen. The live hang for instance, at the beginning, usually has about 6 or 7 people in a row. They just hang on any open spot and there is a guy at the end just in case everyone else misses. Once they are upside down they calm way down, then they rub their belly across a bar that calms then down more. Plus its dark to the chickens. You only use red lights which they can't see.
Then they drop their heads in water and electrocute them to get their heart rates up so that when their necks are cut the heart does a good job of pumping the blood out. That's called the blood room. Only one guy works there. He slits their neck if the automatic throat slasher misses. This film does not show that part. They show the next step where the chickens are submerged, that's called a scalder. That's to loosen the feathers up before it goes through the picker.

I was surprised YouTube has so many videos on it

All varied in amount of detail (graphic or otherwise). For this I mostly started viewing posts from companies developing the plants or equipment sourcing. Then of course things went to political and I ended up going down an OSHA route which led me to some other links which lead me to finding out that a line worker can process up to 40 birds a minute and that is only capped by government saying you cant go faster because of safety. So I learned a few things today.
The throughput is amazing.

The plant we are designing has 850 employees

one that we do a lot of work on has 3500 employees. They do 2 million pounds a day which is about a ton a minute. They work 2 shifts then 3rd shift is clean-up for the next day. Outside chicken plants smell really bad, but inside is very clean. Stainless steel everything. 50 or so full time USDA employees.
