most of the locations in the Charlotte area are nasty and the service is awful.
Also, WRONG BORED MORAN.

It used to be unique and had a cool vibe. Rapid development has made it a lot less quirky and charming.

serious pressure on all that. Some Atlanta suburbs have been able to keep some small aspects of that and hopefully if charlotte keeps growing some of the surrounding towns can do their best as well.

I am one of the rare ones who actually agree with volume based pricing.

Movie Theaters should charge less on Premiere weekends and less for noon on a Monday.
Not sure if that should apply to consumable products but it makes sense for service-based industries.

If it does that, change the price while you're in line, it's just a real time

version of it. And it won't be that.
Driving people to offpeak times and capturing the highest prices when you can has been what restauranteurs have done forever.

Maybe you're right but this is straight from the article.
"Wendy’s will reportedly spend $20 million to implement this along with digital menu boards that would reflect fluctuating prices in real time."

I agree with a couple of the other posters, this is a test. And quite frankly

every company is going to be using AI to test all sorts of theories and efficiencies and profit maximizers. And I think we all can agree that Wendy's doesnt really know the outcome of the test either. But I do believe this quote from the article as well:
It will "allow Wendy's to be competitive and flexible with pricing, motivate customers to visit and provide them with the food they love at a great value. We will test a number of features that we think will provide an enhanced customer and crew experience."

They should charge fat people more for their food. Kinda like a fat tax. Perhaps make the world a healthier place…and more fair.

so you'll have to go into the store or go thru the drive thru to see what the price is at the time. Other surge pricing entities like hotels, Uber, etc use apps or websites where prices are listed before you decide to purchase.

Most of the time fast food is ChicFilet for myself. Most consistent place I have been to. Been a really long time since I have been to a Wendy’s. Their burgers were really good at one time imo but fell off so I just quit going. Was craving a Big Mac one day been maybe a year ago and was in sticker shock on what I paid at that place. For myself I paid $17. Couldn’t believe it. Have not been back there since.
