As someone who used to skip school back in the early 80s, I can tell you it was much better than the current "made for TV" version. It would crank up around 8AM and run until 4PM -- you'd get thru 3 rounds and maybe some of the 4th before the broadcast wrapped up.

My dad and I would get cold cuts and soft drinks the day before and have all of the draft manuals laid out on the living room table.

And Kiper looked like death warmed over 40 years ago too. ;)

I wish it didn't take so long, but they can sell more commercials that way so it's not going to change. I usually just have it on in the background while I'm doing something else, and don't pay much attention until I hear this:
