It's been said before, but our #1 problem is nepotism

We have unqualified coaches and player(s) that would not even be considered by programs the likes of Clemson, but because of their relationship with the HC, we are allowing them significant roles on our team. Best is not Standard.... family and friends trump talent and experience. There is absolutely no accountability in our program and until this blatant nepotism is stopped, we will continue to struggle. If Best is Standard, hire the best coaches available and play the best players! Period.

Maybe he thinks they were qualified, like he was and he wants to keep continuity. Whe. Coordinators leave, we do get crushed in recruiting. I am not sold on Streeter at all, but we will see. I think Wes may settle in and figure it all out.

Now I happen to agree with you... but still.

I think Dabo believes that our culture was the main reason for becoming elite.

This is an erroneous - and dangerous - belief.
Great talent, innovation, and good player development are the main reasons for us becoming elite.
This isn’t to say that culture isn’t important. Recruiting good kids, helping them excel in the classroom, graduating them, mentoring them, and developing them into high character young men is extremely important. But it’s not why we won big.
As long as Dabo keeps believing in this fantasy that a group of players and coaches who are nice guys who love each other is the key ingredient to high level football success, we will continue our slide and ultimately get left behind.
We don’t need to de-emphasize culture, we just need to recognize that it doesn’t trump talent and good coaching.

You can keep the culture....and make the subtle changes needed.
In addition, I would argue keeping things the way they have always been has hurt not only our record...but culture a bit. Kids want to win. We can easily accomplish both.

The fact that you think nepotism is our #1 problem is laughable and speaks to your overall football IQ.

The fact you can't tell unqualified coaches are responsible for recruiting, developing, and game planning speaks to your overall IQ.

Find another team #######. Dabo is the CEO. If you have problems with any aspect of Clemson football means you are only a Dabo fan when winning.
You don’t coach, evaluate or play college football.
You know nothing.

To OP:
Its not ideal...but don't think its our biggest issue. Its roster management IMO. See WR and OL rooms as prime examples. No names mentioned...but kids playing meaningful snaps that have no business doing so at a football power like CLEM. Not being able to bring in backups when your starters are hurt. We lack quality depth in SEVERAL areas. Much of this is self-inflected---fortunately, changes are now being made...but didnt have to be this way....
Great players cover up deficiencies. Not many kids on this team would start on the 2018 team. Better start recruiting better WRs and a bit more OL. Issue with WR is talent...issue with OL is not enough--we have recruited there well last two cycles Compare to what BAMA and UGA are doing. No reason why OL shouldn't be a position of Strength at a program like CLEM.

Oh, I don't disagree as mentioned in my reply....but ROSTER MISMANAGEMENT has been occurring way before Street and Goodwin....
With better roster management...you'll get more quality depth, better players and those players can hide inadequacies/lack of experience in coaching. In other words, we could get away with it and allow these coaches to mature. But to your point, a program like CLEM should rarely rely on anything less than proven, elite coaches.

I understand your frustration....and I agree with you In the fact that if you "do what you've always done you will get What you've always gotten" Sometimes it's time to shake it up.. I would like to see a more experienced play caller As a Co offensive coordinator, we are way to predictable On offensive. BEST TEAMS HAVE THE BEST OFFENSIVE LINEMEN, build from the foundation Up. NO Quarterback in the world can produce with the line play We have....

OL has always been (in most years) somewhat a weak link on this team. Not sure why we can't make it elite. IMO, having a larger OL room would help. BAMA and UGA carry 3-4 (if memory serves correctly) more OL than we do. When you can't sub your injured guys...you got a quality depth issue. That shouldn't be happening, or it should be a rare event, at a caliber program like CLEM.

We should be 3 deep in each offense line position Should be able to rotate all game long... That's what championship teams do...

Very thankful that Dabo is our coach. When we lose he always says” windshield mentality “ . But when questioned about not meeting the standard, he always looks in the rear a view mirror and starts talking about past accomplishments. So which is it Dabo? I’m not sure anymore. Flame away!
