Kelly Bryant to WR if

He wants to see field? Nick looked great and with the qb corp committed, don't see him taking field outside junk time as our qb. But he's lighting fast. If he has good hands, maybe make the move like Ohio state did a year ago

As fans, I think that's been the thought process. And while I don't claim to know 4 sure. I do think he'll have to make HUGE, HUGE strides come March/017. And a movement may not come, if it does- till June. Unless!!! Bryant drives that.
Personally, pulling for Johnson.

All good options. Hadn't thought of DB but works. Like the kid and want to see him on field. Just convinced, so far, it won't be at qb. But he's got talent. Need to find a place for him

I'm not sure why. he has the tall frame Venables likes and good speed. tj green learned the position in a year, why couldn't Bryant? honestly he'd be just as lost on the depth chart at wr as he would at qb, so it seems like the best playing opportunity is at safety. assuming he doesn't make it a QB, of course. I still haven't given up on him there like a lot of folks have.

I said I haven't given up on him as qb yet. I also said it took tj a year to learn safety, not how long he ended up playing there. I also came to that conclusion because of our depth at wr doesn't seem to present him a good opportunity for playing time

the discussion was where he could move if qb doesn't work out. good athlete who could possibly help the team by changing positions rather than riding the pine. it's a hypothetical discussion. safety is normally the position where a good athlete can move to and play. i.e. Robert smith

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility, though some on here will blow a gasket at the thought.
If he's dead set on QB then a transfer may be in his future. Maybe I still haven't seen enough of him but he's just not an effective passer.

Bryant looks like Lamar Jackson did last year. Bad decisions, poor throwing. With so few reps, it is hard to tell, but maybe he has some arm strength we just haven't seen.

It will be a competition between Cooper, Bryant, and maybe Johnson.

What about RB sense he can run the ball!!! At 6'3", he would be very hard to catch in space or open field, and at 220/225 he would be really hard to bring down if he was caught!!! At RB, it could be a blessing to him when draft time comes around for him!!!

Who said anything about him being a RB in the NFL. I'm thinking about him seeing the field in college either as a WR or a RB, being that he was a running QB in HS. And he won't have much of a shot in the NFL from the bench as a backup QB at Clemson. With the big bone structure he looks to have, he will surely put on more weight and with the ball skills he could develop as a college RB catching the ball out of the BF and learning to block I'm thinking he could later on easily transition into a TE bc I believe he could carry 250 lbs easy with him being 220 lbs now. He may never reach the NFL, but he should weigh all his options now before it's to late, if he doesn't have a chance of being a starter QB at Clemson. He should look at other positions that could get him on the field. I know that there isn't any openings in the NFL for a career dual threat back up QB... I'm hoping he will move to whatever position he has to, that will give him a chance at the NFL is all I'm saying....

Yes I did, a blessing in getting him on the field playing something where he will be seen, heck, try corner, safety, WR, RB anything besides a backup QB. AS a RB/QB in HS the kid has skills, and personally I would like for him to play whatever that will help him to get to the next level. Just saying that he doesn't have to be a QB if he believes he will never be an NFL talent as QB. Any position change will be a blessing or a plus that could help the kid to get to the next level. Take it for whatever pleases you bc it really don't don't make any difference to me really what you read into my original statement of what may help him if an NFL future is what he wants. I will agree though with you that 6'3" isn't the norm for an NFL RB. But as a college RB, or any other position in college could get him noticed, and a scout may see him better suited as a future NFL player if they see that he is a great athlete. Just as our coaches do when recruiting a WR or QB as an athlete over the HS position that they played in HS. Vic Beasley came to Clemson as a TE, Dabo and coaches talked him into switch to a DE. My thoughts for Kelly is basicly as the same, play what he will be excellent at that will get him noticed by NFL scouts, anything but a backup QB.

It wasn't pretty. As good an athlete as he is, he had a hard time changing direction as a DB. He would at a minimum need two years of exclusive training to make it work there IMO. For better or worse he's a QB. I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised how well he does out of DW4's shadow.

jumped out at me: If coaches really felt Bryant was the future, seems to me he would have gotten a ton of reps yesterday, and had a chance to make some throws and get into a rythym. Instead, Scheussler got all of the meaningful snaps, and all Bryant got was a few basic running plays and no passes past the line of scrimmage.

Not necessarily. They think Nick is the best chance this year if DW goes down and he needs reps in the event we need him this year to win. Focused on the here and now. Worry about next year next spring.

Everyone thought he wasn't good enough to be number 2,yet no one saw just where Street has Nick at these days.

Put 25lbs on him and move him to TE. We could be a big match up problem with his speed.
May take a while to get him to block, but pass catching should be good.

I don't think it matters one iota what Kelly B wants...
Nov 7, 2016, 12:48 AM
|
|
what does matter
is whether or not he has or can reasonably develop top-flight collegiate recognition skills.
that's because there's no way in hail this coaching staff is going to waste
the top-flight talent they've recruited at WR - to do so would be ridiculously outrageous.
yes, KB was a 4* - but he's sitting behind a former 2-3* as a backup now,
and that tells me he is a really good/great athlete
with maybe average recognition skills and maybe average accuracy skills.
that won't make it at Clemson.
look at Tajh - great arm, fair mid-range accuracy, great long ball, no NFL recognition skills = no NFL career, sadly.
even DW4 is struggling right now throwing a few picks into tweaked coverages as DC's adapt to our passing game.
QB is all about recognition -
the arm, the wheels, the touch are all nothing more than the secret handshake to get a tryout.

I have never, ever thought that Kelly could be a QB at CLEMSON. I first saw him in the Shrine Bowl when he played in HS. He looked as lost as anyone I've ever witnessed, and I wondered what CLEMSON saw in him that I could not see. Every time he comes in as QB, I wonder what in the world do the coaches still see in this guy. I'd rather see Tucker Israel play than Kelly Bryant. KB will never be a decent QB IMO. He cannot pass for squat from what I've witnessed. Why do people insist that he will improve greatly and suddenly we have a great QB to replace Watson? We won't win 6 games next year if he's the QB. I don't think any of our coaches could possibly make that bad of a decision. He needs to transfer - and soon - if he really wants to play football. I'm not sure what position he could be successful at, but QB is NOT one of them.

Honestly I hope ether Kelly or Cooper becomes the starter next year! If Cooper wins the job next year I can see Kelly playing WR where Mike is positioned. He's tall and already around 215 with speed! Man I hope Kelly becomes a star for us one day he has the talent and the personality!
